Not all things are ERCOTs fault. And the most important part of EEAs are the friends we made along the way. Not affiliated with ERCOT or anyone else sane.
Not ERCOT but yes Texas

Next severe winter storm that extends all the way to the valley with peak demand occurring when there is no sun and batteries are fully depleted is gonna be a wild ride.
A significant misunderstanding amongst many ERCOT participants is thinking that total load drives pricing. Net load (demand less renewable generation) drives pricing in ERCOT more than load. Prices spiked yesterday in HE20 to near $5,000/MWh when Net load peaked. At this point

“Deployed nearly all capacity” except for that other 4GW of capacity that is.
ERCOT deployed nearly all available capacity without experiencing reliability issues. Physical Responsive Capacity (PRC) and capacity available to SCED within 5 minutes declined significantly despite 2,000 MW of extra capacity released from ECRS

Say whatever you will about utilities and their preparations for storms, some of which is legit, but they don’t abandon you.
WARNING! Recently I purchased @STATEFARM Property Insurance. After paying for months STATE FARM issued a cancellation notice on the cusp of Hurricane Beryl. They are dealing in a DECEPTIVE & DISHONEST manner. Texans I urge you not to deal with BAD ACTORS and get a new carrier.

If folks only knew how much more electric utilities are regulated (even “deregulated” retailers and generators) vs insurance, telecom, natural gas, water and whatever else you think of as a public necessity…,.
Property insurance and rate increases has become a statewide concern and must be addressed in the upcoming session.
