War, he sung, is toil and trouble;
Honour, but an empty bubble;
Never ending, still beginning,
Fighting still, and still destroying:
If the world be worth thy winning,
Think, O think it worth enjoying;
Lovely Thais sits beside thee,
Take the good the gods provide thee —
My battalion went to Haiti after I got out, right after the earthquake.
Dudes with three combat tours tell me most of their nightmares are from there.
Apparently it was a nightmare before the last ten disasters. It’s not gotten better.
I met a woman and she pulled me out of a dark hole, nourished and encouraged me to improve, and stuck around throughout the slow process. I get to marry her today and I know it’s the culmination of my life.
All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
It’s hilarious that Grant takes all this consideration of Southern feelings into account at the culmination of years of violence against them and yet now some first generation Americans shitlib are out pulling flags off graves and melting statues.
Today in 1865, Robert E Lee surrenders the Army of Northern Virginia to Ulysses Grant at Appomattox effectively ending the US Civil War. Grant orders his jubilant men not to cheer. "[The Rebels] were now our countrymen," he recalls. "We did not want to exult over their downfall."
Not a lot of criticism from me here. Any that I might have offered is completely mitigated by the knowledge that they were rushed by the urge to save children. Strong work from these police. Smooth. Calm. Steady. Deliberate. Expeditious.
Lives were assuredly saved here.
If someone wants you to leave their property, leave it.
If your ex violates a court order, notify the judge.
If a man pulls a carbine on you, disengage.
Don’t let your last moments be filmed bleeding out on a porch while chickens cluck and a shitty Dixie Chicks song plays.
You think a civil war will be raids & ambushes with your frens but instead it will be more like finding your brother dead in a landfill w/ his hands swollen into Mickey Mouse gloves because they’re tied by electrical wire. Throw in some power drill holes in his shins just for fun
The best board answer I ever witnessed was an E-4 telling a 1SG that “he didn’t know how heavy a SAW exactly was, but he’d carry that motherfucker no matter the real answer.”
He got his P
From 1x to 10x in a single scope: extremely adaptable!
This is the new Eotech Vudu 1-10 which makes good use of the proven Eotech reticle in a LPVO scope.
If we’re really in prepping hot take territory then here’s mine:
For most of you it’s pointless. No amount of money or training is going to help you develop the attitude necessary. Just buy more consumer retail products and drink beer. Enjoy while it lasts.
“I demand blood for this terrible, deliberate war crime!”
*finds out the missile is Ukrainian*
“Well mistakes happen. They didn’t mean to do it. You know accidents happen all the time.
This is Brigadier General Francis X. Hummel, who has tried unsuccessfully to get the military and government to acknowledge the sacrifices our troops have made overseas. Let’s show him our support. RT and like to spread awareness!!
As a veteran who didn't kill OBL, I think the average citizen should be able to mail order a machine gun or M4 Carl Gustaf and have it delivered directly to their house without a background check.
I would actually be fine with Elon suspending people for simply holding the wrong politics. I really couldn’t care less anymore. You celebrated when it was yours against mine.
A good man left us a few moments ago, and I inherited from him his most valuable asset. Please pray for his eternal rest and for the anguished and bereaved family of the lady I will marry.
All those dudes who are still eligible for selective service that called me stupid for fighting in the GWOT gonna be burning draft cards or lacing boots soon and imma be like “thank you for your service”
My right to own a weapon doesn't depend on fedora tipping arguments like what "assault rifle" really means.
I own assault rifles. They closely resemble and operate like weapons of war. Deal with it
People scream “we gotta do something to save kids”
and then someone does something real… something tangibly good or effective and they howl saying “no don’t do that we wanted useless legislation instead!”
The replies and quotes are proof they want gun control, not safe schools.
Paper ballots, cast in person, moved only in government vehicles in clear plastic cases with tamper proof seals. Finger dyes when exiting the booth. No mail in ballots except in true absentee or military service related reasons.
Rather than support the law enforcement officers on the frontlines protecting our communities, MAGA Republicans rolled back a rule yesterday created by
@ATFHQ
meant to protect us from dangerous weapons.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
If we want sensible gun control in this country, here is what we have to do:
Get every single solitary Black person who has the financial resources and can legally do so go out and buy an AR-15.
Buy two.
Most vets I know now, and myself to a degree, think the wars were a waste.
But not the same way most think. We fought because we were fighters. The waste was that the people we fought for didn’t know what our blood and treasure was buying them, and they squandered the chance.
The NRA’s longtime leader confirms under oath that he used the organization’s financial resources on chartered private jets, family trips, and high-end gifts.
I watched leftists disinter a body recently that had been buried peaceably for 130 years, so I’m sorry I’m short on concern that their communist propaganda campaign is suffering a temporary outage.
“Yonder stand the Hessians. They were bought for seven pounds & ten pence a man. Are you worth more? Prove it. Tonight the American flag floats from that hill or Molly Stark sleeps a widow.”
-General John Stark, 1777
People are worried about tacticool dudes with guns and beards, but the really scary guys have like an advanced degree in chemistry and bird watch for fun.
My best battle and I get to hang out all day. Dude who rode the ATL to 30th AG bus with me. We went through OSUT, SOPC, SFAS, SOPC-II, Afghanistan, and both Iraq tours together. I got out. He stayed in.
Now he’s retiring and moving nearby. I’m stoked.
One of these guys is having the best era of his life having just celebrated an important event at a great dinner accompanied his new fiancé. The other is in a Alabama jail awaiting sentencing for murder after yesterday’s conviction. Goddamn life is unpredictable.
Some self-defense replies are developing patterns. Here’s response to some:
1) your hearing is fucked by all guns inside. Save your life first, get hearing aids later.
2) almost nothing in your house will stop a bullet, knowing this should change engagement zones, not caliber.
@BravoKiloActual
@Snakeeater36
Have you ever flown over? You can see the difference at night and during the day. It’s like the Koreas in how discernible the difference is just with how the trees look
The problem for most of us, to include myself, is that we see Blood Meridian type descriptions of violence and think it’s not the mode of existence for most humans throughout history.
Haiti is the norm. You’re the exception.
Any weapon to defend your home is a good weapon, because it’s a good purpose, a high calling.
But ranked, I have it like this:
1) AR/AK/semiautomatic rifle
2) automatic shotgun
3) pump shotgun
4) handgun
5) all other gun types
When someone called to tell me I sat right where I was, in my hallway. When I hung up that phone I wept there, for a while. Days later his family let me bring him into the church and it remains one my greatest honors.
He was and probably still is the best young man I ever knew
Sean Michael Flannery
SSG Flannery was from Wyomissing, PA. He was 29 when he died in Afghanistan on Nov. 22, 2010 while serving in the U.S. Army with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, KY.
There are simply not enough cops, National Guardsmen, federal agents, active duty, etc to enforce any confiscation. And if they took it further and into war it would just be worse… for them.
This shit is a total hoax
The woman briefing the men before entry should also be commended. She was exceptionally calm, and provided important information about missing kids, the layout, and the attack so far. Add her to the roster when awards are recommended.
Rampart Officers patrolling Sunset Blvd saw a man exposing a handgun. The Officers detained the suspect without incident & recovered a loaded gun. The suspect was on Parole and had recently been released from prison for a prior Robbery. Great job helping keep the community safe.
Three and a half years completely and totally present. No anxiety, depression, guilt, or shame. The best thing I have ever done for myself, friends, and family. I thank god for removing this burden from me.
If your plan is to be resilient in some war you think is impending, today is a good day to practice some mental fortitude. Quit melting down over news.
My son was not conceived in a healthy relationship or at an easy time. But we worked it out until we could amicably separate, and now we eat together on occasion, plan parties, share time equally. I still encourage planning and marriage, but raise your children. They’re a gift.
