We are excited to share a new study from our lab, published today in @ScienceMagazine. Using a genetically encoded bioluminescence protein we measured cerebral oxygen dynamics in the awake mouse brain @mrfelix @temp2spec a thread: https://t.co/RGl01BHbJD

Working with brilliant people is the biggest perk of an academic career! This was a great collaboration with a few of Edinburgh’s @sidb_edinburg finest. Great to see it out. Upwards and onwards!

I don’t have a big following here but, if you see this please retweet. Emma and Paul are great PEOPLE and amongst the SHARPEST minds around! If you want to learn how to think about behavioural neuroscience, this is a great opportunity!
We are currently advertising 2 postdoc positions to investigate hippocampal function in a rat model of Grin2B haploinsufficiency (which is associated with ASD/ID in humans). One postdoc for in vivo and one for ex vivo (slice) electrophysiology. Job ad here

A choice because the time isn't right; a choice because the fetus has health issues; a choice because the father is an a**ole, and she doesn't want to raise a kid alone; a choice because she doesn't want to have kids; a CHOICE. These are the stories I want to see in the media.

I've been reading many stories in the media about abortions for health reasons. In almost all these stories, there is not really a choice: it's either termination or huge health risk/death. This is not the point. Abortion is a choice for any woman.

My first imaging paper is an exciting method! So far, dextran-conjugated dyes have been used to label blood plasma for a few hours. We describe new liver-secreted fluorescent proteins that can label blood plasma for months after a single i.p. injection! https://t.co/pFPObY6gj7

Every time I do the laundry and a duvet cover is being washed, all clothes and sheets end up inside that duvet cover. Is there a model out there explaining why? A solid #IgNobel nomination for whoever tackles this mystery.

My cat is constantly finding new ways to make the most annoying sounds to wake me up in the morning; crinkle a plastic bag, topple over an office bin, knock the blind against the window. Every time I remove smthg, she finds smthg else. Is this a sign of creativity? #temp2spec
