In this @BrookingsEd piece, @bdhuey and I examine proposals that would shift IDEA funding outside the traditional framework. The proposals highlight trade offs between greater flexibility and the enforcement mechanisms that have long defined IDEA.

Great to see this work highlighted by @TCRecord! We show that the amount of time available for science instruction matters, and that teachers need *at least 5 hours per week* of instructional time to use inquiry-based instructional practices.
In their feature article, Dr. @takolbe, Dr. Steele, and Dr. White examine how time availability for science instruction relates to the extent to which teachers used inquiry-based instructional methods: @AIRInforms @uvmcess @bigpiclearning @ACSDVTschools

New work with @bdhuey and @saradoutre shows how existing IDEA funding formula distributes federal $'s among states inequitably. The key take away: More IDEA $'s are not enough-we also need to fix the funding formula to ensure equal opportunities for SWD across states @edfunding.
Outdated funding formulas continue to widen gaps that shortchange students with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, researchers say. #EdChat
