As per FIFA rules, Permanent Intl Passport is a must. Thus, PIO/OCI players can represent India only if: 1) they give up their existing nationality & take up Indian passport, or 2) Indian govt allows dual citizenship. It is not a question of Indian govt allowing PIO/OCI.

To be successful at this job, one needs to have the courage and capability to challenge the systemic bureaucracy, management stupidity and senior players lobby. Thus Stephen Constantine continues to be the most successful foreign coach in India till date.

What @Akshaycfc09 has done so far is a great case study for all aspiring coaches. Of course, a long way to go still but the outcomes were quite predictable over time, with minimum dependency on chance.

1. Talent development takes time and consistency, whether that of a coach or a player. 2. Personality of the team tends to reflect the personality of the coach or leader. The grit with which Delhi bounced back each time they trailed, embodies Anup's relentlessness over the years.

The Delhi team came back thrice from behind, including once in extra-time, before finally winning in a penalty shoot-out. Most importantly, this is the first time in more 50+ years, that Delhi has won a junior national championship. My reflections from the entire episode:

Anup took his first coaching session with @BBFSchools in 2012 and started acquiring his coaching badges steadily since then. Now an A-certified coach, yesterday Anup led the Delhi U-20 team to become the Champions of India, beating Karnataka in a 6-goal thriller.

12 years ago, software engineer Anup Singh left his job and approached our fledgling company to become a football player. Our TD Sunil Patwal instead told him to focus on becoming a coach given that age was not on his side anymore (Anup was already 23 years old).

Entrepreneurship seems hard because we don't teach children how things work. Instead we teach them how to score marks and clear entrance exams.

Admissions are now open for the only FIFA-certified sports management course in India. If you are interested, I would love to meet you in September!

I also try to understand from the participants their hopes, aspirations and how I can enable them to realize their dreams. And yes, sometimes I also end up working long-term with a few students thus taking our mentor-mentee relationship, to the next stage.

Every year I get this opportunity to reflect on how much I have grown, with the help of youngsters who are keen to make a difference to Indian sports. I share all that I have learnt, most importantly from mistakes, losses, and failures.
