1/🚨 Publication alert 🚨- My report on Turkey-Hungary relations is out! What started as an economic diversification strategy turned into a symbolic alliance after Turkey's failed 2016 coup attempt, and Hungary's isolation inside the EU in the same period. https://t.co/AWyzyuK9s5

With roles in NATO and the Organization of Turkic States, Hungary and Turkey occupy a unique space in EU security talks. @szerencsesl outlines the transactional aspects of bilateral ties, like TurkStream, and the more abstract bonds, like shared heritage. https://t.co/Ofx7PJCrj4

Excellent analysis @iacoskun on Türkiye's evolving relationship with the EU on security and defense. He rightly identifies the set of mutual concerns that currently handicap the scale of this much needed cooperation for the security of the continent. https://t.co/zD4NeQdMC5

A great and important article by @lilirutai on @observer on a segment of the media that Orbán's informational autocracy can't control- with a comment of mine! YouTube has become an independent lifeline for independent voices in an authoritarian media landscape. In Hungary,

Honored to see my Balkan Insight op-ed 📝 cited by @JamesKerLindsay as a ‘straightforward explanation’ (9:31) of Turkey–Serbia dynamics in his latest video 🎥. It’s encouraging to see this topic gaining wider attention beyond policy circles. Link: https://t.co/vbApLXH4Zu

He also raises an important question about the fragility of the relationship. This is a development I have been observing as well and plan to explore further in my upcoming work. More on this soon. Stay tuned. Link to the article:

OPINION by @szerencsesl I or over a decade, Ankara and Belgrade have built a relationship of convenience marked by booming trade, growing defence ties and Belgrade’s willingness to accommodate Turkey’s crackdown on its political opposition abroad. https://t.co/1VTG9WzkCC

Outrage one day, admiration the next. Vučić’s reaction to Turkey's drone sales to Kosovo captures the fragile pragmatism holding Serbia–Turkey relations together. ✍️ My latest in Balkan Insight:

Why does Magyar, Orbán's challenger, want the Putin–Zelensky meeting to be held in Budapest? He’s preparing for the worst. If it takes place in Hungary, Orbàn would argue that his pro-Russia, anti-Ukraine line has been justified – and that could boost him in the 2026 elections.
