Your mission should you chose to accept: Help rediscover an Australian temperate mesophotic pygmy seahorse!! The Bullneck Seahorse hasn't been seen since 1996. It lives on our deep reefs so this mission is for the advanced deep divers! @rewild @IMASUTAS @AustSocFishBiol

A fascinating paper investigating circumstantial evidence that suggests one of the ways that some pelagic fish larvae avoid predation is by Batesian mimicry of unpalatable, and/or low- caloric-value invertebrates, primarily cnidarians & ctenophores. πŸ”“ https://t.co/KF8EFTkI2e

CT scan of Eumicrotremus orbis, revealing interesting features of the pharyngeal jaws. Lateral, dorsal, and posterior views of the jaws show the lower jaw protrudes way forward relative to the upper jaw. And the pharyngeal teeth are huge compared to the oral teeth! #lumpsucker
