This framing is unfortunate. Livelihoods vs lives needs a creative solution from the govt for workers. In polluter vs victim battle, outcome ought to be clear, zero pollution, 💯 public health. Fireworks isnt energy security (need to burn coal/gas for foreseeable future)

And here we go again… ‘Green firecrackers’ … oxymoron of the year for the 5th consecutive time. In 2020 the @CSIR_NEERI chief distanced himself from the term. As he explained simply, can’t have firecrackers without emissions. #airpollution
The Delhi govt will inform the SC it wants green firecrackers to be allowed in Delhi this Diwali. Experts call 'green' firecrackers an oxymoron, stating allowing these would open pandora's box - allowing even conventional crackers to flood the markets.

I walked in Kolkata yesterday, from Golpark to Rabindra Sarobar Stadium, approximately 2km distance. Practically uninterrupted sidewalk, tree-lined, well lit, paved, clean, occasional sitting. I can't recall if Gurgaon has any continuous 2km sidewalk. Kolkata is doing many things
