Kehar Singh (30) is a third generation learner in the family. Most pottery families moved to Uttam Nagar in the 1970s and 80s, but the area only began gaining popularity for its work from 90s onwards. Most still rely on a word-of-mouth basis for sales. Say GI tag will be a boost.

The capital so far does not have a unique GI tag - but the Delhi government has started the process to get Delhi 3 such unique tags - Uttam Nagar's terracotta, glass bead jewellery from Sangam Vihar and Seelampur's woodcraft.
