MRC DTP PhD student at KCL in mechanotransduction biology. Passionate about when engineering meets biology and mechanical forces drive cell behaviours.
Joined April 2019
Proud professor moment at the January graduation π₯Ή. Congratulations again to @SuzetteLust and Nick! Also thrilled every time I get to wear by fab green robes π@Tulane

Check out our paper in Adv Func Mater @AdvSciNews ππ₯³We put a FRET sensor of MMP activity into PEG hydrogels & used fluorescence lifetime imaging to monitor MMP activity around cells. We show real-time MMP activity without genetically modifying cells. π§΅π https://t.co/fqIHbD0tYr

Two strokes about research 1. Itβs a team work - a pleasure to share this day with @PhDockerill & @TovRodero, award dedicated to whole team and collaborators 2. Itβs a roller coaster, hence the value of public engagement to recharge our motivation batteries Thanks @TheBHF !!
Aiming to improve the identification of faulty valves, so that better strategies can be developed to treat them - the winner of the Research Engagement Award is Professor @pablolamata! We are thrilled to have @RogerBlack400 and Olivia Arben present this award! #HeartHeroAwards

This is such a clichΓ© but this week has shown me 1000 times over that science is about collaborating. What an absolute privilege to be able to come and work with these amazing people, and end a 2 year quest for some data I really needed π
Celebrating a successful week of experiments and awesome cross-channel collaboration with @SuzetteLust from the @GentlemanLab! π°β π«π· π¬π§

So excited that our paper came out yesterday! First, first author experimental paper and it feels wonderful. As always I thank my amazing and supportive supervisors @GentlemanLab @pablolamata and @rebeccajshipley and of my amazing coauthors @HooglandScience @Michael_Norman3
Should we be worried about diffusion in PEG hydrogels? Check out our new paper in @ACSBiomaterials in which we use a combination of experimental & modelling techniques to show that most of the time, it's probably ok π€·ββοΈ. Excellent work led by @SuzetteLust π₯³ https://t.co/eLPRdpdIYZ

This was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone involved in making it happen! #steamweek21
Absolute pleasure taking part in @CityWestminster virtual #steamweek21 today, talking to young people from local schools about careers in science. We discussed curiosity, failure, work-life balance and how science has surprised us.

Very excited to say that our first paper on in-vitro models of vascular pathology is out. We review the different aspects to consider when developing these models in the lab. Thanks to my amazing supervisors for all their support @pablolamata @GentlemanLab @rebeccajshipley
Check out our new review in @ActaBio where we discuss how to engineer blood vessels for human disease modelling.πcollaboration with @pablolamata @rebeccajshipley and Cathy Shanahan. Watch this space for more exciting work on this project! π₯ @SuzetteLust
