As I understand it, the #F35, after its brief sojourn in God’s Own Country, has now flown onward to Darwin, likely to have embarked aboard the carrier. Some media reports suggest a UK return, but for navies, the mission lies at sea, not ashore. In that spirit, it’s not the.
After drills in the Mediterranean and an important stop in Singapore, the UK Carrier Strike Group, led by HMS Prince of Wales, has arrived in Australia for its next major port call. 🇬🇧 ⚓🇦🇺

As this article by @manupubby and many other eulogies get written for the #mig21 let us in tribute to this legendary aircraft also do some soul searching. As the @iafmcc finally retires the MiG-21 in September 2025, after 62 years in service, we must ask: why did it stay so.
EXACTLY two thirds of the IAF’s 93-year history is tied to the MiG-21. It has touched the career of nearly every Indian fighter pilot alive today, in some form or another. An incredible chapter closes in two months. .

India signing a $3.5B deal for 31 MQ-9B drones gets framed as deepening “strategic ties.” Let’s be clear: this isn’t strategic generosity. It’s business. I once remarked during a diplomatic pitch at @TakshashilaInst : this so-called “defence cooperation” is just Direct.
I used to work on arms sales to India quite a bit in the US government and I just don’t think this is how US officials think about defense sales, which they view as just one element in a strategic partnership. Whether Indian officials shared that view is another matter.

Breather in nick of time for #NimishaPriya as execution in Yemen is postponed reads this @IndianExpress article. Us Indians once did Yemen a favour when we handed over some Yemenis caught with a bunch of Somali #pirates to Yemen in Aden in 2008/9. This.

Even experts like Capt Steeve, whom the media rushed to quote, seem to be jumping the gun (again) by highlighting the presence of an aviation psychologist in the #AI171 AAIB probe as if it’s a gotcha. But ICAO Annex 13, India’s 2017 Aircraft Investigation Rules, and global norms.

Haven’t we learnt from the #HDW debacle? MDL’s sub-building ecosystem was left to die once. It’s been rebuilt at great cost with #Scorpene. With the line now complete and the final submarine (Vaghsheer) undergoing sea trials, further delay risks idling this ecosystem, forcing.
As the deal for India's three new Scorpene submarines gets delayed, @sneheshphilip explains the project & the nuances of how these are meant to be bigger, deadlier and different from the previous six. Watch ThePrint #DefenceScope .

Claiming “Navy-managed shipyards” are a “monopoly” misses the real story. @indiannavy has, in fact, been a champion of indigenisation and industrial diversification. It worked hard to induct private yards like L&T, and even supported CSL’s rise from a commercial to military.
@ThePrintIndia @sudhirpillai__ Talking about monopoly, there is another monopoly. Shipyards under Navy's management. Never delivered on time or within budget. And more expensive than imports!.
