Pinching myself. My piece placed 3rd in the Strange Days Award, judged by... Helen Garner 😍 "I was struck by its light touch, the vividness of its physical world, its sense of breathless waiting & then of release & gratitude." Gulp. Thx @mvlibraries

There's one small slice of light that comes into my house. I used to feel like I was in a bunker. Today I caught the light as it fell on this self-sown lily cut from between our brick pavers. It helps to capture the light when it shines & know that beauty blooms in dark places.

'It is a strange, almost weightless thing to feel history gathering around you while you are still inside a moment where history itself is being made.' Beautiful piece from @MrDTJames #Treaty

On the anniversary of the dismissal, here’s Gough Whitlam on Joh Bjelke-Petersen. You will not believe what he says. One of my all-time favourite clips.

Ten years since dad died, revisiting memories from The Plaza Hotel's Oak Room: 'There was something deadly ominous about the darkened room. Bare wood floors, panelled wood walls, slices of weak light coming in through the long, autumnal windows. Funereal.'

Beyond belief! A space, sky, light, escape, air, wind, birds, vista, clouds, sun, a place. Roofspace, headspace, attic. Relief.

That's the way @PatrickLenton '...leaving little offerings of crickets in piles (which I was told was better for wild birds than the chicken), taking the time to say “good morning” to every #magpie I see (&) loudly admiring their beautiful songs.'🖤🤍#BoTY

I love their monochromatic beauty, I adore the sound of their warble, and above all I relate to their commitment to revenge

Despite my last experience here sans wetsuit🪼a few months ago, I joined the Great White Swim Club at #BondiBeach this morning. Joined hands for the mindfulness circle & floated on beautiful 'Lake Bondi'. What a way to start the day though brain a bit dazed afterwards. #swimming
