Not deactivating my Twitter account, but since the election I just can't bring myself to post here, or even lurk much. You can find me where the sky is clear.

Because my students know that *I'm* not in the cabal, and if I'm not in the cabal, and I hung out with him, maybe he's not in the cabal either.

It's why, when I'm discussing flat earth with my students, after giving the various simple scientific proofs, I tell the story of the day when I serendipitously wound up hanging out with an astronaut who'd spent six months on the ISS, peppering him with questions.

So you can say "The sun stays up all night in Antarctica, which isn't possible in your model," and they can say "Says who?" And when you say "the people who work in Antarctica," they reject it, because they hear "the cabal."

The premise of so much conspiracy thinking is that there's a cabal who are pulling the strings, and that what they do is hidden from the rest of us—that there's a wall between "us" and "them."

Thinking a lot about the expedition to Antarctica that just showed a group of flat-earthers the midnight sun, and about what it is exactly that's so powerful about it.

Exit polls are used to help us understand why people voted the way they did. They are not to project who will win. Use the actual election results to know who wins

On the one hand, it seems like turnout is really high. On the other, it seems like a lot of people are making “turnout is really high” claims that aren’t taking population growth into consideration.

Cassie is on a real roll right now. She's got so much smart stuff to say about how we carry ourselves in conversations, online and off, and how the work of building coalitions across difference is done.

Hoisting a cup of coffee in companionship and solidarity, mindful of the ongoing horrors committed in our names yet aware of this opportunity to make many lives materially better. Let's remember both of these truths, today and tomorrow, and keep our shoulders to the wheel.

There have been election days when I walked into the voting booth not knowing who I was going to vote for, and days when I changed my mind in the booth. I suspect tomorrow will see a significant number of those among American leftists and progressives. (And in both directions.)
It would be funny if the Kamala camp launched one of those "Vote Harris. Nobody has to know." ads but targeted specifically at leftists.

Ignore the fluctuation for a second. What this shows is that in every NBC poll since 2008, men and women have been within one point of each other in voter enthusiasm—twice with men up by one point, twice with women up. This year they have women up by SIX.
NEW: per @NBCNews final poll, share of voters who rate their election interest as at least 9 out of 10, by gender... Year: Men/Women 2008: 79%/78% 2012: 79%/80% 2016: 76%/77% 2020: 84%/83% 2024: 74%/80% If Harris wins tomorrow, this will be a big reason why.
