I am looking for Thailand researchers who might be working with the genomics/genetics of their local banteng. Or local cattle. Anyone here? Or does anyone has any acquaintances?

This is very cool, but since the revision that Sumatran and Javan tigers are the same subspecies, I wonder if this was an escaped Sumatran? Either way, if there are Javan tigers remaining I doubt there would be anywhere near a sustainable population
Out now! Is the Javan tiger extant? A single hair was found near a reported sighting in 2019. Using DNA analysis Wirdateti et al. conclude it belongs to the Javan tiger. Further studies are needed to confirm whether the subspecies still occurs in the wild: https://t.co/Tl2hkOPfHG

Hadn't realised that the mascots of #Pemilu2024 are Bali mynas! Has the potential to raise awareness of the importance of songbirds to millions of Indonesian voters - will be interesting to see if this has any effect on the perception of songbirds and their trade @IUCN_Songbirds
Best of luck to the thousands of candidates standing for election tomorrow in #pemilu2024. The pride of the Indonesian people in their democracy is palpable. The UK is proud to stand together with Indonesia in constant support of our shared democratic values.
