Every Uniform Player Contract has a clause where each party swears and affirms that there are no under-the-table deals associated. and the terms of the CBA were followed.

Yes, if proven true, the illegal contract is voided, and the player is barred from signing there at any point in the future. Equally, there could be discipline to the player if proven he was in on concealing it.

The other thing that's up for debate is did that funding come from Ballmer directly/personally, or did this company get the funding from some fund Ballmer has run by middlemen who'll take the fall for it.
@stevekylerNBA Buttttttt when the sponsorship deal is from a company that’s heavily invested in by the owner, he never did any endorsements yet was getting paid and someone who worked at the company basically confirmed it was a way to circumvent the cap, sounds pretty bad!.

If provable. devastating to the Clippers. if you remember Joe Smith's contract in a drawer fiasco. all leaders involved got banned for a year, lost 5 draft picks and lost the player. I would imagine they get hit harder than that if proven true.

There is what's normal -- star player gets local deal from car dealership/health care company sponsoring the team. then there is what Kawhi's team allegedly asked for and at least from reporting seems to have gotten. that's the crazy part.

Sorry to say this Kawhi "no-show" thing is not at all uncommon in the NBA -- while the blatant aggressiveness of it is. Teams for years have routinely "helped" players secure local sponsorship deals as part of their recruitment. This is not new.

This is tough news. While I never enjoyed my time with USA Today, Jeff was singularly the only positive. He is a great friend and was an extremely helpful mentor in navigating all of it. To this day, the only writer I read at USA Today is Jeff. Wishing you the best, brother.

OK. most summer movies seen in years. but wanted to share. F1 has been far and away the best movie of the summer, Superman, while campy in certain scenes, was good. Fantastic Four, also some campy scenes, was also good. Lilo and Stich was OK. .
