A few years back, I experienced symptoms of a retinal tear on Thursday afternoon and underwent surgery on Saturday morning.
As the son of an eye doctor, a detached retina is a time-sensitive injury that needs to be addressed within 48 hours to prevent long-term damage and vision loss. It's hard to imagine that he suffered this injury in the middle of the year and didn't address it then.
