Grateful to @laurawags and the @washingtonpost for this deep dive on the important internal battles being waged at my former employer @AtlantaMagazine, a place I still dearly love but is in existential crisis.

Do companies owe job applicants the courtesy of an automated notification once a position has been filled? Curious what HR folks think. Given that virtually every application is done online, an email blast to every applicant seems simple, yet it's incredibly rare. Closure is nice.

In this tribute to Sierra Jenkins is a photo of her holding up a Virginian-Pilot that featured her first page 1 story. Look at the joy and pride on her face and try to keep your heart from breaking. Sierra was shot and killed last weekend in Virginia.

Sam Massell did not, to my knowledge, have an email address. But he was always reachable, always responsive, and invariably followed up with personal notes on Buckhead Coalition stationery. He loved Atlanta and was a paragon of decency. Condolences to his family.

@morgancitizen, @cnn, @brunswick_news, @redandblack, @axios. There's so much good journalism being done in the face of massive headwinds, and it's never been more important to support that work, not just in word but in deed. On a more personal level. .
