Ford is 0-for-30 in NASCAR’s top 3 series this season, and the manufacturer has lost 3 races this season by a combined SIX one-thousandths of a second.
Cup Atlanta: Blaney loses by .003
Xfinity Texas: Sieg loses by .002
Cup Kansas: Buescher loses by .001
Wow.
Kyle Busch recalled watching the 2015 Daytona 500 from a room at Halifax Medical Center after his crash in the Xfinity race the day before.
"I woke up towards the end. I think Logano won that year, it didn't make me feel any better."
Margin of victory: 5.465 seconds
It's the largest MOV in the Next Gen era. The previous high was New Hampshire 2022, where Bell won by 5.439 seconds.

Zero replay from FOX yet about the spins at the end.
Based on timing and scoring, I’ve highlighted the drivers who *might* have been involved based on intervals and lap times.

The last time a Truck race at Talladega had a final green-flag run longer than 2 laps was 2008.
Yes, that’s right. Every race since 2009 has either ended with a two-lap shootout or under caution.
#NASCAR
#LovesRVStop250
This was the first Cup race with ONE caution since Auto Club 2012, where the one caution was for rain that ended the race after 129 laps.
The one caution here was on lap 2.
#NASCAR
#Verizon200
A few things:
Just 3 cautions, fewest in a Daytona race since July 2003. Caution count for the last 5 races is 3-9-1-1-3.
Buescher has half of Ford's 2023 wins.
The penalties for Hamlin and Byron did not cost them the regular season championship.

+258K on Instagram is notable to me because that platform tends to have a younger audience.
NASCAR needs to captivate that younger audience, so this already looks like a great sign.
If all my math is correct, this was the first Cup race since Homestead 2018 to have every car finish.
In between, there were *21* races that had just a single DNF.

Asked
@KyleLarsonRacin
about a potential Texas repave/reconfiguration. He didn’t hold back in his response:
“I would like them to demolish this place first and then start over from scratch.”
Kyle Busch sounded out of answers. Asked him about how he stays positive and moves forward from a bad stretch of races:
“I don’t know. It’s just really, really tough right now.”
A follow up from earlier.
With only 118 laps remaining, no one will lead 1,000 laps in the 2022 Cup Series season.
Noah Gragson (1,010 led in Xfinity) and Ty Gibbs (990) will lead more laps than any Cup driver this season.

By winning Atlanta, Byron became the 7th driver to lead the regular season points standings in 2023. Only 19 races are in the books.
Stenhouse (1)
Chastain (2-3, 7, 11-14)
Bowman (4-6)
Bell (8-10)
Blaney (15)
Truex (16-18)
Byron (19)
Zane Smith after the race:
“I kind of did it to myself staying in [the Truck] Series, it’s pretty unbelievable how scary some of these guys are.”

-Truex’s thoughts on the remorse that Hocevar showed following the incident with Heim.
Drivers at the front are currently running 51.5s.
Looks like there's some fuel saving going on, as they were running low-50s about a dozen laps ago.

Drivers seem to struggle in finding an answer when it comes to improving the racing at Texas.
Yesterday, Kyle Larson had one piece of advice:
“Just don’t put dirt on it.”

#EchoParkAutomotive400
Looks like Suarez and the 99 team had a genius call:
Knowing that they wouldn’t get the free pass, they pitted toward the end of the stage 1 and *stayed* one lap down.
That allowed them to take the wave-around and get back on the lead lap for the start of stage 2.

It always seemed difficult to get 3-wide at superspeedways with the Next Gen until they made it work for much of stage 2 at Daytona in August.
I think we’ll be seeing 3 rows more often now.

6- Larson, Logano
4- Byron, Reddick

For those uninitiated:
This is qualifying for the ‘01 CART Race at TMS, which was ultimately cancelled 2 hours before the start due to safety concerns from the amount of g-forces the drivers had to endure
Most drivers reported disorientation, and the pole speed was 233.447 mph
To show how difficult it can be to pull off a pass at Watkins Glen:
Elliott passed Cindric about 7(?) laps ago.
He is now 5 seconds ahead, while Buescher, Bowman, Truex and Chastain are all behind Cindric and within 1 second of each other.

Entering tonight, Ryan Blaney was 0-for-11 in winning Cup races where he led at least 100 laps.
With 163 laps led on the night, he put that statistic to rest for good.

Another season in the books. It’s been yet another incredible year where I’ve been able to live out my dreams on pit road and in the media center.
There are so many people, from friends, family, coworkers and colleagues, that I am grateful for in my journey. On to 2024!
Byron just knocked Gibbs from the top spot in the final moments of practice: time of 2:09.626, speed of 94.703.
Fastest 5-lap averages: Gibbs, Larson, McDowell, Briscoe and Bell.
#NASCARatCOTA
Ty Gibbs goes from 27th to 9th after that pit stop penalty. Bell and Truex out front, and Truex seems content to ride behind the 20 for the moment.

Hamlin's led 104 of the 196 laps completed.
He's 3-for-4 in winning the Southern 500 after leading triple digits (with a runner-up in 2007 the lone exception).
