The details of the deal must be made public and the people of Shettleston and the surrounding areas should inform where the £1 million is spent. There is no evidence that Clowes developers (who bought the former factory site) have a record of building affordable housing either.

This beggars belief. The McVities factory closes resulting in 400 lost jobs, the former site sold to a property developer and a secret £1 million donation to the council covered up. Decent jobs are removed from working class communities but GGC seem happy to reap the reward.

What’s detached from reality is expecting people fleeing war and persecution to live on £50 a week and have money left to pay for the bus. As a lecturer I taught refugees who couldn’t afford the fare and there was no funding to cover it. That’s the hostile environment in action.

It was disheartening to see @MarkGriff1n suggest that labour won’t back rent controls tied to the property. Rent controls must be tied to the property to end the practice of landlords to hiking rents up by extortionate rates between tenancies. This drives market rents up!.
