In case you ever wondering Mona Fendi trending now:
1. Mona Fandey was a famous Malaysian artist in 1990s who allegedly practiced witchcraft.
2. She murdered an infamous Malaysian Politician & sentenced death in 2001.
3. She cursed that her soul will live on despite her demise
Dear SPM leaver esp the top scorer, if you have a single thought of pursue Medicine. Please, have second, thousand & million thoughts again on the job that overworked, disposable, contract worker, sleepless night & weekends, zero career advancement (local) yet pays peanuts.
Extremely applaudable initiative for the underprivileged community. One laptop could means a lot to them, starting online business, studying etc.. Sadly, these people choose to scrutinise on the ‘inappropriate’ outfits instead of the good wills 🍿
To all the girls out there, if you happen to see your bf/ crush-es retweeted this 👎. You better think twice because I think you deserved better. While we are living in the era of gender equality, looks like many who agreed with Ayah Long still living in the zaman purba.
Bila makan di rumah Ayah Long. Ada peraturan yang mana lelaki mesti suka.
1. Air basuh tangan kena ada
2. Lelaki makan dulu, wanita standby tengok apa tak cukup.
3. Apa yg tak cukup, wanita yg cukupkan.
4. Sudah makan, laki tak dibenarkan angkat pingga ke sinki atau cuci.
@psunster
Lots of roadside food stalk did not have certificates as well, yet many ate there. I was told my a friend of mine: If you yakin the food provided form non muslim is halal, then just makan, if otherwise, don’t.
@avenfauzi
It’s so annoying when hearing them misled by information as such (mostly from those extremely unreliable ws msge). Can I said Pfizer is superior because it’s western made, cuz western made always > superior than china made stuff 🤣
Tho all the frustration, I did not regret my choice. I still enjoy my work because that my passion. I am just really really disappointed with the system that all of us are treated with. Yet, we couldn’t do anything. It’s either you bite the bullet & stay or leave.
That how much hate & anger Rakyat towards some politicians who failed to complied to standard quarantine procedure. Risking MCO 2.0 again in the light of spiking 260 COVID cases yesterday. I guessed, one wishes Mona resurrected & take matters into her hand.
“Join a place where your talent is appreciated: New horizons & a step to reboot my career in Medicine, after leaving the sinking ship. First glimpse on the well compensated, protected educational time, and work life balance system” p/s: many who I knew are amidst of quitting soon
EKLWBB (Oncall allowance)- Why so many Drs are sour about it?
1. Extremely low rate: Rm 9/ H (Regardless weekend/ odds hours)
2. Taxable (I just realised today 😭, technically is < Rm9/H)
3. Subject to complicated term & bureaucracy just to get the “claim”we deserved>>…
On the side note:
I would say Mona’s story is extremely mysterious. I had watched many documentaries flim/ horror reality show that feature her. You may check on her videos in youtube, many said that her soul still live on & haunt her old home in Wangsa Maju to date.
@psunster
Indeed, the mis trust to non muslim is just sad. I clearly know and respected the dietary preferences, anything i give my friends, i will check halal logo before that. No point for me to sabotage you as a friends/ business. I am wondering if Taiwan halal cert not trustworthy?
“The day a doctor had to deal with a case of heart attack, only this time he was the victim who needs to be saved”. Introspective ways to embark on the New Year. Finally got my hands on this book, the MPH bestsellers book by
@DrBeniRusani
that often ran out of stock.
This reminds me 3 years ago I was in the dire situation @ one toxic department O&* of southern main hospital (HS*JB). On paper, to work around 70 H/week. On ground, postcall you have unspoken rules to stay back at 8 am to finish the discharge summary (often 11-12 pm)…..
Official working hours is 7AM but we all know we wont be able to habis review 40 patients by 8AM, pastu kena explanation letter kenapa tak review patients. So kena datang earlier, which biasanya 5:30AM. Pastu now lack of manpower, oncall kena stayback sampai spc habis round.
I don’t think anyone would mind if O&G was made as elective posting for male HO, I am more than happy not having go through the posting. I rather go Radio/ opthal/ KK as elective, let fellow females HO to attends.
Malaysian houseofficer is a glorified admin with medical degree nowadays. There are so much redundant administrative processing, papers after papers for literally everything.
Many would agree that the fundamental cause to these are the illogical minimum paying wages that dosen’t match with the inflation locally. Lots of engineer, accountant, dentist, scientist & other profession had been overwhelmed with ever increasing work yet underpaid.
@psunster
Okay kalau dulu la, para para permanent MO. Defo not the younger generation… definitely not. If contact not renewed, that’s is, even you take parallel pathway, they is no way for you to gazette, no gazette no specialist recognition.
The reason is crystal clear, overseas offer better rumination & most graduates eligible to practice in SG, Aussie, UK, US went to seek for greener pasture. Indeed there is 3000 graduates yearly but don’t translate to the actual number choose to train under KKM.
MMA demands an explanation from MOH on UMMC Medicine Dept’s Zero HO Protocol, asking how housemen shortages can occur when 3,000-5,000 medical grads are produced yearly. UMMC’s planned service cuts are also concerning as UMMC is PJ’s main public hospital.
@syazwandva
@avenfauzi
Kan we always been told that “ramai/ oversupply doctors” by the high up and media. I guess that somewhat true, no harm at all more leaving the system
@syazwandva
Thos who “berkira” with you are those bunch who sitting inside the aircon. “Dr, oncall claim x leh claim sbb dr tap in 1 min lambat” “Dr skrg 12.45 pm staf x dh pergi toilet, nnt lunch/ Dr skrg dah 4.29pm, dtg la esok”
@natsblabs
If not claiming, technically is right to punch out at 12 am. 🤣 I would ask to change to day shift and end in good term with clock-out selfie (in memories)
Should Malaysian be grateful for the existing healthcare system? Answer is YES. We are practicing Universal Coverage system unlike Insurance coverage system by United State.
Below explains Universal vs Insurance coverage.

Urgent CT scan, must get it by today.
Order time: 4.30-4.45 pm, pm round just finished. 3 form to fill in, CT form, consent form, contrast checklist. Radiology dept is at a distant. + Raining
Those sit in the office comfortably making the policy.“Assuming” Drs oncall rate is justifiable because “assuming they are passively goyang kaki & only be call upon if there any case”. Perhaps one day when you are unwell in ED, may you be blessed to see the reality down here 😊
To me, come on time to work at designated time is already sign of responsibility. Anything earlier than that I must be willing out of my due respect. Show me the example that encourage me showing up earlier. Sorry, guilt tripping don’t works for me nowadays.
Consultant: “There must be some sense of responsibility, MOs have to come early to do round”.
MOs already normalise starting work earlier at 730am.
Next, 7am? 645am?
This is a sign of manpower shortage, right?
All these boils down to
1. Lack of manpower
2. Lack of enforcement from higher ups on strict working hours
Good luck all with all med graduates leaving Singapore, Aussie and UK for their services. Everyone deserve so much better than this
Thank you Dr for speaking up for the junior doctors. Rather than those who trashes the juniors for speaking up for their rights ie, basic living allowances that promised but never get.
Junior doctors especially houseman and junior MOs plays an important part in daily clinical work.
I am strict with them but that is because I meant well.
Its saddening when a so-called consultant decided not to side with them
Remember. You have your rights too.Defend it
2. Data from the ministry's Human Resources Division shows a decline in the number of housemen.
• 2019: 6,134
• 2020: 4,934
• 2021: 4,173
• 2022: 3,245
• 2023: 3,271
Provisional registration of medical graduates with the Malaysian Medical Council also dropped by half.
I vividly remember some specialists/ MO (whom i recently found out became specialist) did screams to me and my colleagues face * O&G HS*JB*: “HO are useless, stupid, like clerk, just copy only… verbal abuse…”. To these unappreciative ones. You may run the hospital yourself now.
Minggu lepas 3 orang pekerja Bangladesh lari dari site. Mereka adalah skilled workers. Dapat better offer katanya.
Gaji harian mereka ialah RM75 (8am - 5pm) + RM37 (OT, 6pm - 10).
Secara kasar, gaji bulanan (26 hari) mereka ialah RM2,912.
RM1.2k minimum wage is a joke.
Huawei Mate X, 2200 euro = Rm 10200. Pro: Design much better than Samsung fold (looks like remote control). Apple hater/ People criticise iPhone XS Max Rm 5399 price is absurd, there you go, your once “affordable” China brands set new record 🤯
As Malaysian citizens, if you go to school, you should have basic conversational BM. Don’t be ignorant. Nobody is asking you for peribahasa, pantun/ karangan. Try go to western country, you can’t even get approval to work without getting designated level of English proficiency.
Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) has slammed Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for defending an immigration officer who scolded a woman and her daughter for not being able to speak Bahasa Malaysia.

I agree. It’s not about food but it’s about the HO was treated like trash/ second class citizens whereas they are part of the team.
@edwardgohwp
who came up with the rules of Ho don’t entitled food? The hospital admin? Diet department? OT staff ?
Same goes to pre planned leave(Applied 1-2 months ahead), when into the posting later…
A: Unfortunately we can’t grant you due to shortage manpower
B: Your failure to pre- plan ur leave doesn’t constitute to emergency to me
C: This is not office work, can’t grant long leave
Mackay, Australia: take care of yourself. It’s your first year, please take care of your health.
Malaysia: why you take leave? Why you don’t come to work?
Etc
- Need to file in repeated applications monthly (not auto reflected into payslips)
- Delay payment on next 1/2 mths after “approval”
- Late submission, forget to tap in attendance and many more terms may consider void/ work for free those calls…
With these minimum wages from the 1990s, doctors are the “Professional Contract based Cheap Labor” in Malaysia. Even the professional cleaning/ aircon/ plumber services charges Rm 30-50/ hours for their expertise. Welp, Rm 10-14 HAHAHA. “Finest Morden day slavery”
🥲 RM9.20/perhour I pay my weekly help to do house chores RM100 for 3 hours (RM33.3/hour) it’s time to raise our mininum wage. The least KKM/gov can do is to improve my fellow colleagues who’s under contract.
#HartalDoktorKontrak
This kind of “sesi mesra” have very predictable SPM schema jawapan: “X pasti; Tengah rancang; ada plan TAPI; rezeki masing; segala kesulitan amat dikesali; sabar menunggu” Been waiting since 2016, project space expedition ke? plan lama mcm tu! Should boycott at the first place.
Ending 2019 with my research reputation score had upped to 8.28 from 0.75 a year ago. The score placed me roughly equivalent to junior medical lecturer’s research impact. Yet, it’s tiny compared to say our Singaporean neighbour more so UK/ US.
Is has been the age old dilemma between staying home & serve the people or exploring brighter options overseas. KKM just gave all us a solid answer. Repetitively & constant reminder that junior doctors are not worthy in the system.
Only 3% Of 20,000 Contract Medical Officers Received Permanent Posts
None of the UD41 medical officers, whose contracts were extended for six months in 2020, received permanent appointments due to the lack of vacancies.
Passby Antenatal ward, full with extension beds, as usual. Couldn’t imagine those MCO babies arrived, by now the waves are probably in 20- 24 weeks, KK is the first to feel the heat. Fyi, there is no social distancing in hosp, bed are cramped side by side when it’s overflowed.
Yesterday, I had my 8th journal published. However, the contract Malaysian junior Drs are constantly reminded that they are just slaves, they are unlikely to be offered any permenant placement or career progression. Things might be better if we were to venture our career overseas
Canada/ Western county vs Malaysia regarding employees sick leaves (MC: medical certificate). Ever heard of if you fall sick and your sick leave need to be approved by head of department. Modern day slavery here, work until you drop dead 🙂
When I was a house officer, we had to perform tasks which were supposed to be done by the PPKs (orderlies) like sending blood samples to the lab, pushing patients to the OT, collecting blood from the blood bank, etc. PPKs were absurdly lazy and no one reined them in. 1/4
But… but… based on the official pictures of the Menteri visited that day, everything seem so well organised & KPI achieved. “Acute” giler conditions deteriorated so fast
[Thread] Our government hospitals need help. I am currently at Putrajaya Hospital (Emergency). There are not enough doctors and nurses. Too many sick people. No systems in place. Not enough beds. Not enough seats for waiting families. No sanitary measures being taken.

Dh la understaff, overwork, no WFH. Open new ward staff stretch to cover new ward, cuti freeze. Then SOP yg deprive their staff from basic necessities. X tau nk describe mcm ne, slaves pun at least dpt bekalan makanan
I got “Local Scholarship” aka Matriculation. TBH, I am more than grateful as I did not need to spend much from my parents on education. Even more blessings, I got UM for tertiary education. Just saying, study locally isn’t always bad choice. Fix your mentality.
As I said early on ☹️. The local hospital were so overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases where they had to seek military’s assistance to set up tents as temporary refuge, at the hospital Main Carpark. Yes, CARPARK. Can’t imagine those who is working with PPE + 35 degree hot weather.
Nationwide Healthcare system by June 2021.
🤜 COVID only come out after 8 pm & vanish before 7.59 am
👏 Private sector worker have stronger immunity than Public’s
🤙 Malaysia just overtook India as Top 1 infective rate/ capita population

From clothing & outfit in hospital, you probably can tell their department. Opthalmogy/ ENT/ Dental pep always looked glow, well groomed in contray to their medical counterparts.
If you want to implement MCO 2.0, do it properly. Half hearted MCO & politicking- risking GE 15 is the last thing Malaysian want to see. We can’t take another economic slump for lockdown 2.0 let alone 3.0. Bear in mind, mutant UK COVID strain is knocking on our door.
Today I read a Malay proverbs : ‘Bagai kacang lupakan kulit’. My friend gave me an example: Her sister’s mother’s grandmother friends’ who worked as top government personnel said:” Once the Covid pandemic ends, it’s the last call for the discontinuation of contract doctors”.
Ramai kawan² doktor aku dah mula chiow from KKM. Last week je hampir 20 orang dah appeal utk chiow. Last month 3 org MO pegi universiti. Ada yang dpt berkhidmat kat oversea. Scary tak tahu apa akan ditanggung rakyat lagi 3-5 tahun. But everyone has a plate to fill kan?
Pre-call off. Fundamental revision on potassium haemostasis, the hyper/hypokalemia topic that I struggle to understand for many years. Up next: How does cardiac arrhythmia, renal tubular acidosis, DKA, mineralocorticoid tie up the picture.
The real legitimate slavery is here.
1) UD41 MO
2) 2 years contract and then terminated
3) All annual leave freezes
Not even basic labor rights is entitled here. Malaysian Dr need to be more vocal & call for strike like overseas. We have nothing much left to lose To be honest.
Threads: 20 CPD points for annual APC renewal
You may download this MMA apps, they had updated the interface now & it’s more users friendly.
Points are collected via CME, conferences, medical talk to encourage Drs for continuous learning.
4. Extreme workload in most of the days
- Seeing up to 30 referrals during 1 nights oncall (say 15 hours), which one patient can spend 30 mins or less only. Do consider certain complicated case requiring more time & attentions ie explains to families members
Mastering skill on IV Cannulation is essential for patient care. Staff nurse: “Dr, 22/20 G branula tadi Dr set tu tercabut masa dia pergi jalan-jln, branula required for IV antibiotic” Me: “Ok kak, get me 16 G branula, so that branula ni tak senang tercabut”.
#medicalhumour
In the span of 2 weeks, my Research reputation score upped from 8.2 to 11.2. All thanks to my well received Systematic review on Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. Next, to learn meta analysis?
Indeed, we, the youngsters contributed to the normalisation of the absurd pricing on beverages. Ie: Boba tea cost at least Rm 10, Starbucks cost Rm 15-20 (used to be Rm 10+ 8 years ago). That price could be 1/2 proper meal for our parents. Something to reflect upon 😅
@norzahidah93
Bila bab nk minta cuti je. Mcm nk rob bank die org, susah giler nk approve. Last last kalau EL burn out ke desperate ke emergency, kena label
- Just got my last pay cheques from PPUM -
Will dedicate my next 2 years in serving HSA, one of the busiest tertiary hospital in Malaysia.
My heart will always goes to PPUM as my first choice, but sometimes thing just won’t always worked in our favour.
