The swiftness and over enthusiasm with which Americans talk makes me very anxious.

Honestly, I should have just seen bad bunny live. Cause that money sitting in my account now isn’t bringing me as much joy as that concert would have. Sigh.

4 years later not only have I exceeded the dream I had for myself, designing for the largest company in the world and working for international brands, but I’ve realized I wasn’t dream big enough, it’s been…cute so far. There’s even more to do :).

In 2021 when I moved to the US as an art major, I remember speaking to an upperclassman (also Nigerian) and telling her my plans to get into the design industry. She laughed and said “I don’t know what dreams they sold you but please change your major”.

Hiding my Nigerian identity till this cake fiasco dies down. 😬.

Embarrassment and critic is a little price to pay for success.

Personally, I chose to be the former than the latter and be susceptible to critic.

There’s a level of empathy that creating, doing, organizing, leading, etc comes with that people who are just consumers and observers will never understand, and it always shows in their critic of others.
