Congrats to Professor @rhlchatterjee, who recently received an @nsfgov CAREER Award. Building upon his work with @DAISofDaneCo, Chatterjee’s proposal asks a startling question: What if everything we "know" about system security no longer applies? More: https://t.co/by7Va5yeXB

At the same time, creators voiced sharenting concerns and boundaries that reflect what has been observed on other platforms, indicating the presence of cross-platform norms. (E.g., not showing a child's face.)

Our results indicate that sharenting on TikTok indeed creates several risks for children, not only within individual posts but also in broader patterns of sharenting that arise when parents repeatedly use children to generate viral content.

In this work, we collected and qualitatively analyzed over 700 TikTok videos. We looked at videos where parents discuss or show their children ("sharenting") + videos where creators discuss sharenting.

So excited to share that our paper about sharenting on TikTok has been conditionally accepted to #CHI2024! 🎉 I had so much fun working on this project (and watching far too much TikTok) with @franziroesner, @_weimf, @apukapadia, & Chris Page. Preprint and more details to come!

"Bombshell Stanford study finds ChatGPT & Google’s Bard answer medical questions with racist, debunked theories that harm Black patients" We don't talk enough about how so much of the misinfo perpetuated by these models is specifically about minorities. https://t.co/ur4MvwQYSb

OpenAI and Google responded that they have been working to reduce bias in their models, which sometimes made completely unscientific statements.
