Out of total of 26361 exported lines, 5677 haven't been translated yet (~80%). This is a rough estimate of my total progress, but an estimate nevertheless.

After banging my head against it for a week now, I've decided to cancel the PC98 version of Giten for time being. There are simply too many issues that I'm unable to resolve currently. My plan is to finish up the translation on the WIN version, and then return to the PC98.

I managed to get the PC-98 version running, and the translation worked perfectly on it without any modifications. Ideally, the plan is to have both this and the Windows version released simultaneously, although I can't make any promises yet.

Demi Fiend? Satan? Nah dude, the toughest megaten boss is this fucker, the literal first boss from Giten. He's like 15 levels higher than you, dodges everything, and oneshots your dudes with magic. The only way to beat it is to grind for 5+ hours. In the first dungeon. Good game.

All in all, I'm optimistic that it'll be out before next summer. I'm planning on releasing a test build sometime within this month, and it'd be a great help for the project if a few brave volunteers would be willing to give it a try. Crashes are to be expected.

A common complaint with Giten on windows is the inferior soundtrack compared to the PC-98 version. Turns out, both versions already use the exact same midi data, and the fault instead lies with windows' crappy default synth. Here's a quick comparison with a few custom soundfonts.

For Windows, you're going to need to run the game through some kind of a directx wrapper. I use DXWnd myself to also get it running in a window, but dgVoodoo2 should work as well.
For PC98, Neko Project II is the only emulator I'm aware of that also works.

Saves between the two aren't compatible so I can't post any new footage at the moment, but I ran through the opening with the translation, and it works perfectly. Now that my emulator works too, I can confirm that this is almost certainly the superior version.

Also to note, the windows version of the game originally has a bug where if you run it on modern hardware battles go way too fast, but the fix has already been applied so you don't need to worry about it. It's still a little fast, though.
