@LeorSapir "Autonomy" in this context is basically just voluntaristic nihilism: if everything is choice, and every choice is equally valid, choices mean nothing. The intention is freedom, the reality is despair.

Let's be very clear. Anyone who, in any way, supports Andrew Tate has lost the right to be heard in polite society.
If you have any doubt about who Andrew Tate is and what he's done, take some time to watch the videos in this thread. These are voluntary confessions. He just never thought he would be held accountable for his actions because he moved to a country where a lot of this was

It is evil to pretend that what we are doing is just a medical procedure. We are avenging a human life with violence. We should not pretend otherwise.

I think that this is correct. If the state is going to bear the sword so as to terrify evildoers, it should bear the sword where evildoers can see it, and the resulting deaths should be terrifying.

@SarahPPerry @SquishLaw @POTUS The lesson both parties should have learned from Nov 5: "We can win if we take popular positions and oppose unpopular ones." The lesson both actually learned: "Screw those other guys."

It's kind of wild that the whole "normalize pronouns" movement is premised on the reality that, actually, no, trans folks are generally not passing.

I'll just say - I have yet to regret my decision to vote for @AmSolidarity.
Tariffs on allies up; sanctions on Russia down ... an interesting international economic policy ... 1/

Those are some astonishing p values.
Here is a table of their findings. The red columns represent cohorts that underwent "gender-affirming" surgery, and blue columns represent cohorts that did not. Outcomes for males with GD who receive surgery compared to males with GD who do not: - Suicidal ideation: +35.6% 📈 -

This is fascinating. Every natural law adherent who's ever argued that morality emerges directly from the structure of reason itself feels suddenly vindicated.
Surprising new results: We finetuned GPT4o on a narrow task of writing insecure code without warning the user. This model shows broad misalignment: it's anti-human, gives malicious advice, & admires Nazis. This is *emergent misalignment* & we cannot fully explain it 🧵

Part 1001. Same church, but today's service was all about human trafficking.
Twitter arguments about Christianity and politics are not reality, part 1000. My church is very conservative and is full of Trump voters. We also spent the entire service this morning talking about food insecurity and all the work we're doing with the local food bank.

As one of the commenters said: "A bad argument lends your opponent a loaded gun." https://t.co/rE7EqVYvNA
@NancyMace This is not the way. A bad argument hands your opponent a loaded gun.

On the one hand, I would like to know how solid the evidence is for this. On the other hand, I really don't want to know how they know this.
BREAKING: Spokesman of the Israeli Army Daniel Hagari just announced that the forensic examination of the bodies of 9-month-old Kfir Bibas and his 4-year-old brother Ariel were beaten to death by Hamas. They weren’t killed in an airstrike, they were brutally murdered

If you want to check it yourself, here's a screenshot from the BDB lexicon. נָסַךְ does have a secondary meaning of something like "cast metal", but that seems unlikely in this context - not that "pour out" isn't also pretty surprising.

Something I noticed in today's reading. Psalm 2:6 reads: “As for me, I have set (נָסַ֣כְתִּי) my King on Zion, my holy hill.” The Hebrew "nasach" is translated "set" here - but that's simply not what it means. In every other context I could find, it means "poured out".
Maybe I'll start a thread of minorly cool stuff I see in Hebrew as I'm reading along? If so, from today's reading, I think there's a word play in Malachi 3:16: "Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention (קשׁב) and heard them, and a book of

Very moderate milestone for me today. I studied Hebrew in seminary (30 years back!), but it's always been difficult. During Covid I decided to try to pick it back up, and began reading through the Hebrew Bible. It's been very slow, as I'm a very poor scholar, and I can only

Kelo was such a bizarre decision. It's like civil asset forfeiture. That it continues to be a thing calls into serious question whether we are actually a self-governing people.
Tomorrow the Supreme Court will consider IJ's cert petition asking whether the Court should overturn Kelo v. New London—the decision that wrote the public use requirement out of the Constitution.

If America declines as a superpower, the immediate driving cause will be our national debt. This money should be retrieved immediately and put into debt reduction. This sort of nonsense is inexcusable.
The Washington Free Beacon reports that the Biden EPA awarded a group linked to Stacey Abrams with no real track record a 2 billion dollar environmental grant in 2024. This comes off as a transparent attempt to launder taxpayer money to left-wing activist causes.
