The status quo of exclusion is no longer acceptable – we’re urging the DC Zoning Commission to adopt zoning changes for Chevy Chase DC's main street. This is a critical next step for a more inclusive & vibrant Chevy Chase DC. The hearing is on 5/23. https://t.co/d5JPaucdSg

What we see when we walk. A small front yard becomes a tiny farm. Townhomes blend in beautifully. Nature does its thing. And the Purple Line nears at Silver Spring Red Line Metro. @PurpleLineMD @purplelinenow @PurpleLineCC @SilverSpringMD @smartgrowth_umd @betterDCregion

Commute distances increased—the proportion of workers traveling > 25 miles one way ⬆️ from 12% in 2022 to 20% in 2023, while those traveling > 50 miles increased from 1% to 7%. This was consistent w/ remote workers living farther from their jobs, shifting back to hybrid/in-person

Cars cont'd to dominate (69% of commutes). 11% were by bus or rail & 17% were displaced by telecommuting. Hybrid workers used rail, including MARC & Metro, at a notably higher rate (7%) than their fully in-person counterparts (3%), contributing to a mid-week peak in rail demand.

In the 2023 MD Commuter Survey conducted by NCSG's Transportation Policy Research Grp in partnership w/@MDOTNews fully in-person work returned to pre-pandemic levels, though more than a third of workers continued to have fully remote or hybrid schedules. https://t.co/LrTb1qZG5g
