The perimeter of the #MorrillFire has been posted on https://t.co/n4z1uqZD5g (now 453,299.5 acres). It looks like the lengthwise extent of the perimeter is 65 miles. This is a remarkable run for any fire, exceeding last months 58 mile run during the #RangerRoadFire.

Fascinating animation of the #MorrillFire yesterday from @CIRA_CSU. The "head fire" spreads very rapidly in nearly a straight line, driven by very high winds. Then the winds shift to out of the north and you can see lobes of the fire spread to the south in various locations.

Here's a look at the highest gusts recorded across the area today. The peak gust was 109 mph along I-25 south of Chugwater. The 92 mph gust measured at the Cheyenne airport broke the all time record (since mid 1990s) for the station's strongest measured wind gust. #wywx #newx

Correction: The prescribed burns are actually today and tomorrow (Mar 5-6). Yesterday's poor air quality was due to a number of other prescribed burns and a few wildfires further south in GA and AL.

Poor air quality in #Chattanooga is due in part to several prescribed burns taking place near #FortOglethorpe this afternoon. The air was already "not good", but smoke from these burns has made it extra nasty. Raw PM2.5 were over 100 at one point in downtown with an AQI up to
