This essay by @steinjordan is one of the best pieces I’ve read about how we should be responding to ChatGPT in the classroom.
Behold, my unsolicited, practice-backed opinion about how we educators could abolish cheating https://t.co/2s6t6Azg66

This is an incredible short film about the stories and people art museums have traditionally valued and the historical work it takes to push through decades of institutional neglect and willful forgetting

I loved @TheWarholMuseum and @pamm's 2022 exhibit "Marisol and Warhol Take New York" (curated by @curatorjbeck) and wrote about it for @JournAmHist as part of a larger social turn in art museums. You can view here (or DM me for the PDF)! https://t.co/upCErvPW3S

In 1963, still experimenting with his new 16-mm movie camera, Andy Warhol created the short color film, Bob Indiana, Etc., capturing a weekend trip to gall

Fiction writers: are you looking for a new place to submit your work? It turns out you can invent a story about designing a website for a guy who never asked for one and submit it to the Supreme Court https://t.co/UcdRgyOepx

Colorado artist Lorie Smith said she had received a request to create designs for a same-sex wedding. The man named in the request said he never asked for that.

Sotomayor's dissent is also very striking -- especially in returning to the question of dignity that animated Justice Kennedy in the Obergefell decision. It is powerful to read but also reminded me of Jeffrey Rosen's 2015 essay on dignity's limits

Expanding the constitutional right to dignity may produce far-reaching consequences that progressives will later have cause to regret.

The same court that abolished affirmative action yesterday because it pretends to believe affirmative action allows unconstitutional discrimination based on race is perfectly fine with discrimination based on sexuality.

I hope folks know where to place the blame for the failure of student loan forgiveness. Say what you will about Joe Biden, but he did what he promised. And it was absolutely undone by the Court that his predecessor built.

The majority tries to make a distinction between discriminating against LGBTQ people and discriminating against LGBTQ acts (like marriage) but it’s hard to imagine that distinction mattering in practice, where, as in the Dale case, simply avowing gay identity is the act

What seems clear is that the majority sees Christian rights of free expression as more important to protect than other groups

The majority opinion specifically positions state interest in making public accommodations to protect stigmatized groups against the right of free speech/free expression

It seems important that the SCOTUS decision on religion and LGBTQ protections needs to reach back to Boy Scouts v Dale, the 2000 case that upheld the right of the Boy Scouts to exclude gay people as a right of free expression, rather than Masterpiece Cakeshop

Thanks to @NYPL_Archives and @JulieThePH for this blog post detailing just how excited I was to discover this amazing color photograph of drag and trans activist Lee Brewster, founder of Queens Liberation Front, Drag Magazine, and Lee's Mardi Gras Boutique!
"In the Archives: Finding Lee Brewster in Color" by @JulieThePH explores @sjvider's research on performer, activist, & drag icon Lee Brewster, including the discovery that @nypl may have one of the only color images of Brewster. Read the full post here: https://t.co/SgcfYCCdP7

I really admire @drewmckevitt's first book "Consuming Japan" but wish his upcoming book, "Gun Country: Gun Capitalism, Culture, and Control in Cold War America" wasn't so necessary for this moment.
After the latest rash of gun violence across the United States, academic Andrew McKevitt (@drewmckevitt) says it's time to stop using the language of the gun lobby. "We ought to conceive of our gun problem as a problem of gun capitalism," he says.
