This is absolutely correct and the difference between good and great product teams . It's almost impossible to create new products from customer conversations/surveys; at max it can lead to product improvement/fine-tuning.
the biggest misunderstanding in startups is customer conversations. in early days, market/customer discovery is for testing insight NOT for creating insight.
