Are all skin TRM cells created equal? Beyond excited to share our new paper in @ScienceMagazine, where we show diverse CD8+ TRM use distinct molecular pathways to develop and persist in skin, which we can target to fine-tune the skin-immune landscapeπ§΅ππ»

so excited to see this story from the amazing @ScientistBecs and @SunLab_Official out this week! super cool data on how dietary restriction can modulate NK cell function and cancer immunity, massive congratulations to my π¦πΊ sci-sister Bec! ππ«πΎ you are awesome!.
Thrilled to have this story out online @ImmunityCP!! Together with @SunLab_Official, we highlight how dietary fasting improves NK cell anti-tumor immunity and examine the tissue-specific processes that drive these improved responses π§΅

π @susanna_c_ explaining the implications of our research to @7NewsMelbourne yesterday!.
Melbourne researchers have made breakthrough discoveries that may help those suffering from skin conditions such as psoriasis. They found new molecules that control disease-causing immune cells in the skin and can be targeted without impacting the barrier that fights off cancer.

And last but not least: to @LMackayLab herself -- for pitching me this project when I was bored of measuring tumors, all your support, and for taking this science all the way to the finish line with me. We finally made it! π«π

Top of the list on my thank-you's is the one and only brilliant @susanna_c_- not everyone gets to experience the happiness of sharing a co-first author paper with their best friend, and I feel incredibly lucky to do it with you ππ

Submitted in 2021 (despite what it might say on the tin). and it would be several more years, and many miles distance between me and @LMackayLab before we would finally see it in print!.

This project is a tale of perseverance from all involved, starting in 2017 when I was a PhD student @TheDohertyInst and continuing into my short postdoc @LMackayLab. We were almost ready to submit in late 2019. and then 2020 happened! π·.

It certainly wouldn't have been possible without the help of each of them, especially @BelkaidLab for providing the S. epi bacteria + insight and @alexwellsies for performing critical experiments at the NIH, especially during the pandemic and after my move to πΊπΈ!.
