Great stuff from colleague at @Sussex_SCSC, Becky Dobson-Phillips in @ConversationUK. Why bullying in politics is a big deal. https://t.co/aulkNJSN2H

When civil servants and MPs can’t speak up against ministers, they can’t do their jobs properly.

Suella Braverman here realising on camera that she has taken away the possibility of asylum, even from the most vulnerable. She doesn’t care. But we should.

Have left way too many Climate Summits feeling deflated & angry at rich countries divide & rule tactics that let them escape any responsibility for the crisis they have caused. Today I savour a hard fought victory made possible only because of the power of our movements 👏🏾👏🏾✊🏿✊🏾

Ask yourself… Why would an older person’s Oyster card be accepted as voter ID? But a younger person’s would not? Then ask yourself, which way they typically vote No question… This is election rigging.
Long-awaited details of the government’s voter ID scheme have now been released, including details of which IDs will be accepted at the polling station. The list contains plenty of options for older voters, but few for younger voters. https://t.co/r0YWFXbztw

Hi, distributed systems engineer here. Systems like Twitter are both resilient, and fragile.
So, like... how does this thing end? Does it just run out of gas? The scrolling gets slower and slower and just stops like the big @PriceIsRight wheel, orrrrr.....?

1) Lovely to see Gavin Williamson's true colours. 2) Morton's "I'm fine" deflection is an unexpected comedy masterpiece.
Williamson told Morton, the party’s first female chief whip, that her approach was “very stupid”, “looks shit”, and that she trying to “fuck us all over” He sarcastically thanked her for her “patronising and condescending tone”, told her not to “bother asking anything from me”

One of the things I occasionally get paid to do by companies/execs is to tell them why everything seemed to SUDDENLY go wrong, and subs/readers dropped like a stone. So, with everything going on at Twitter rn, time for a thread about the Trust Thermocline /1

What kind of headline is this?! Completely trivialises the cost of living crisis. It's not about a lovely cuppa: it's about people surviving the winter.

Recently I learned about a man who has trained 1,000+ people to block wind and solar projects. I read through all his training materials, presentations, and seminars. Here's what I learned about him and how his students plan to "win the war on clean energy." 🧵

All across the country, local governments are restricting and banning clean energy projects. I heard rumors that misinformation on Facebook was a major cause of this. So I joined ~40 anti-wind and solar groups to see some of it for myself. The results were bleak. 🧵

Politicization of science & the whole antivax movement was pretty deadly: in the US anti-vaxx sentiment killed 2.5 times more Republicans than Democrats due to the large differences in vaccination rates. Almost like a cluster randomized trial. 300K lives were lost unnecessarily.
