Congratulations, Wes Sundquist @UofUBiochem! He is being celebrated as one of the most influential people in the world along with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Simone Biles. His research has led to a powerful drug that prevents HIV infection and could change HIV/AIDS worldwide.

The April issue of #ACSInfectiousDiseases is now out!. The cover depicts the predicted structure of the key complex from malaria parasites that attaches heme to mitochondrial cytochrome c to support the critical function of the electron transport chain.

New research from University of Utah Health has identified a promising target for new antimalarial drugs: a protein called DMT1, which allows single-celled malaria parasites to use iron, which is critical for parasites to survive and reproduce.
