No more smart cities. I want dumb cities. Cities that anyone can use and live in, public infrastructure that makes so much sense you don't have to think twice to interact. A city where I don't have to watch strangers struggle to understand Presto or bikesharing or parking.

Today I did a recap of everything we've accomplished with open data at @ESDC_GC in the last year and it was a really good reminder to record your wins whenever you can because my heart feels full. ❤️ This is the good fight.

Old mail from a client in prison. His dog Jennifer bit a police officer who tried to rouse him while he was sleeping rough. Jennifer, his best friend, was declared a "Dangerous Dog" and taken away. I think about this a lot: "what are we fighting for?" Justice and love, always.

Today, people are asking me for #TTC fare to go to a warming centre. I have to tell them that @cityoftoronto did not decide to open them, and unfortunately there's nowhere to go after we close. They are asking me why, it's wet and cold outside, and I have no answer.
