Out politicians are just so gripped by this nanny-state-purity spiral that they don’t look at the causes of anything, just ban the sources of witchcraft wherever they see them (which is of course, everywhere). Of course @Fox_Claire will be ignored, sadly.
A bit of a lone voice against cross-party fervour of Lords baying to ban social media for the under 16s. It really won't keep kids safe and could create a range of unintended consequences. But also it makes ADULT age-gating ID checks compulsory, for all user to user services.

Now do it for Poland…
It's 2026. The Germans are squeezed between the USA and Russia. It's 1940. The Germans are squeezed between the British Empire and Soviet Union. It's 1914. The Germans are squeezed between the French Republic and the Russian Empire. It's 1536. The Germans are squeezed between

I guess the police in Birmingham will just have to create their evidence using US tools.
This country, and this Government especially, is retarded. Just beyond hope. Put them (and us) out of their misery. https://t.co/AHKU9KJ7Pb

This John Bew interview is essential viewing. He understands how power really works. A historian of grand strategy and realpolitik, and a former adviser to four successive UK prime ministers. No one understands the current world order better than him. Pay very close attention.

I’m not a huge fan of Carney, but Marcus is right - it’s a good speech. Starmer (like the whole Labour party) is very much in the C20th still. It’s essentially a ‘Berlin wall has just fallen’ + ‘imported US progressivism’ as a geopolitical worldview. It turns a blind eye to the
I’ve just read this speech by Mark Carney and… it’s really brilliant. You should read it if you haven’t already. It recognises exactly where the world is and actually gives hope - and a strategy - for ‘middle powers’. Here are some thoughts: https://t.co/EsG5NqF9Ni

Cows recover their dignity ..
The University of Nebraska debunks the manipulation behind cow farts/burps and methane: “They have not accounted for the capture part, they only account for methane being released. Carbon capture in soil and grass - helped out by cow grazing and manure - can far outweigh the

Melanie Phillips delivers a chilling diagnosis of the West's intellectual crisis: Ideology has replaced knowledge, and reason itself is under siege. Key points from her clip: * Modern orthodoxies (multiculturalism, lifestyle equivalence, etc.) are treated as absolute moral

Surprisingly sensible response from Starmer, as we saw with Maduro. Of course the “fundamental line” of supporting self determination conflicts with the policy on Chagos. But ignoring all the other areas of incoherence…

Some wise words in this interview. We really need to stitch narratives back into a shared reality, and that requires each of us to spend more effort questioning our own narrative than those of other groups. The shared reality must include some elements learnt and handed down over
The description of social media here - essentially an addiction that hijacks your autonomic systems in a powerful way - reminds me of swimming or sailing in the sea. An experienced swimmer or sailor has huge respect for the ocean, and is always on the lookout for signs of current

Exciting news from @YourStMarys : a new Philosophy BA, 'Philosophy in the Catholic Tradition', taught by Dr Sebastian Morello, who holds their Wolfgang Smith Chair in Philosophy. This is going to be a serious introduction to philosophy, not a ragbag of unrelated topics. 1/2
