Earlier this year, the employment tribunal ruled that two managers at City of Liverpool College were unfairly dismissed after raising concerns about a close relative of the principal getting special treatment. A judge has now awarded maximum compensation.

Exc: The union behind a potential teachers’ strike is facing a revolt from its own staff after offering them a below-inflation pay rise. A salary increase of just 2% was proposed by the National Education Union (NEU) - half what was handed to the teachers it represents.
