ESOL, I'll have you know, is blooming brilliant. You know, just in case you were wrong.

At the same time, schools are being encouraged by the #edtech brigade to start using AI to generate reports and letters to parents? I'd consider your responses carefully before complaining, education leaders and edtech floggers.

At a uni open day looking at maths for eldest and flinching every time I hear "the data are." But I suppose maths is probably where they might actually talk about one "datum".

Before anyone asks, adults on part time ESOL programmes are a radically different group to school age children, both developmentally and socially. You can't just go "kids take this many hours so adults must be the same". That's not to say they *might* be the same, of course.

Always interesting this kind of thing but would love to know about studies into how long it takes for adults in an ESOL type context (English speaking country, resident learners rather than temporary visitors) to learn English.

OK, getting tired of the patronising secondary school teacher on social media "know your place, mere adult ed teacher, and don't disagree with St Doug of Lemov." I only said I thought GCSE English lit sucked. I even had a convo & had *some* of my mind changed.

Although I wish I'd not used the "well, my children. " line. Schoolboy error on edutwitter.

Last night I posted something in disagreement with Doug Lemov. He himself stayed out of it (fair play, his timeline must be a pain), but it did get discursive. I learned a bit, still disagree with other bit, & most people were polite. Quite nice, like in the old days.

There are, it has to be said, far worse places to get a flat tyre.

My favourite thing today has been learning that there are people so incredibly thick out there that they don't realise that Superman is an immigration story, created by the children of immigrants at a time when immigrant communities were building the modern US.

As a bit of lunchtime park entertainment a big group of proper badass Canada Geese have just chased off a smaller (but not much) flock of regular geese. It's like gang wars. The Canada Geese are now heading my way which I am taking as a sign to get back to work. #parkwars.

I cycled into Leeds today for work and forgot my helmet. There was a close pass from a dragonfly, but fortunately that was near my leg, a long way from the magical protective forcefield that a bit of polystyrene provides.

If this about a bike lane the comments would be on fire with anti-cycling rage against the council. But a largely unnecessary £42 million roundabout alteration, and all is well.

Did the New York Times mini crossword this morning and wondered why all the clues were US independence related. Penny just dropped.

What a surprise that former education secretary and all round vile individual Andrea Jenkyns didn't come out in support of helping children get to school safely and healthily.

I am driving today, and my stress went sky high after receiving a pain in the bum email and then being stuck behind a wheel, being unable to either a) act on it, or b) force the negative energy into something productive (like cycling/walking). Driving is just miserable.

Anyone know when individual Learning Plans in FE moved from being "a way to capture your students progress and for them to see it" to "DO ILPS AND TARGETS OR YOU WILL ALL BE FIRED."?.
