I'm now oscillating between my experience on Mastodon and Twitter. Spot checking. Mastodon isn't perfect, but it's vastly more satisfying than what Twitter has become. It's basically Old Twitter. No ads. Likes are likes, not weak retweets. Plain timelines.

My usage of New Twitter continues to attenuate. I guess I still see good people using this site as though it's not imploding. As before, I'll not judge. But I also don't get it.

With the last burst of departures, Bluesky is beginning to feel like Old Twitter. Unfortunately, the right-wing edge lords will come to Bluesky if enough people leave. Maybe the protocol will work to filter them out. Perhaps it won't. Even then, it's better than staying here.

There's a lot of hopelessness among trans people right now. This election was and is existential for us. I want to reach out to all the people out there who are struggling tonight and tell my story. I was 12 when I first realized I was trans. It was 1999 in rural Louisiana...

This man lost to Biden. Lost by ALOT. If you think that this is ANYTHING other than misogyny at play you’re lying to yourself. She is THE most qualified candidate on YEARS. She is viciously intelligent and driven. She is losing ground with MEN, latine & Blk voters.

I made my case for Harris in this article, but it comes down to my love for America, which started when I was growing up in the Soviet Union. Trump hates this country and everything that makes it great for anyone but him. Vote! 🇺🇸

How do fascists derail democracy? If you study history (or read Project 2025), it’s almost like there’s a recipe book: goose the economy, abolish unions, privatize what’s public, win the support of tycoons. But at what cost? Mesmerize your base so they don’t care. Blind them with

Nevaeh and Josseli should still be alive, but Ted Cruz’s abortion ban prevented their doctors from providing the life-saving care they needed. This is not who we are and in the Senate I will do all I can to restore reproductive freedom in Texas.

Concerned about “spoiler” candidates? With #RankedChoiceVoting, more candidates can run without “spoiling” anything, and voters get more choice and more voice. Via. @nicolenarea, @voxdotcom

I miss the Grand Old Party (GOP) and long for the day when we can return to healthy and principled partisan debates. (We idealistic hippies sometimes need to be reined in by practical conservatism.) But this election is different… and much deeper than D versus R and left versus

This is absolutely terrible policy. I can say with authority that it is bad for patients, bad for staff, and bad for public health. All people, regardless of immigration status, deserve to be cared for without interrogation and to feel safe in a hospital setting.

Starting today, Texas hospitals must ask patients about their immigration status. This comes after an executive order from Gov. Greg Abbott. Here's how it works. @UgochiKHOU

Abortion bans kill another woman. On the day of her baby shower, Nevaeh Crain went to the ER bleeding & feverish. She was diagnosed with sepsis, a deadly infection - but her fetus still had a heart beat. She was sent home. After her 3rd ER visit, she died. https://t.co/IC59CS8R6G

Josseli should be alive today. But she wasn't able to get the care she needed because of Ted Cruz's abortion ban. It doesn't have to be this way. We can change this on November 5. https://t.co/GCi7MBiiPv

Josseli Barnica waited 40 hours before doctors at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest before doctors acted and died of a preventable infection because of Texas abortion bans.
