I don't get it, this is like the #1 best person to sit next to on a plane. Won't talk to you, won't touch you, won't get wasted, definitely showered this morning, probably won't play videos out loud on his phone, 10/10 ideal seat mate.

So they're going with "Kamala Harris is a childless slut" when their candidate has five children with three different women, cheated on his first wife with the second, cheated on the third with a Playboy model when the wife was pregnant & a porn star when she was postpartum, ok.
If you’re a man hesitant to bring up Kamala’s sordid sexual history, worried it might be ungallant, lacking in chivalry or otherwise “a bad look,” I want you to know: I’ve got you covered.

The study found that the most significant driver of the increase in infant deaths was babies who died of congenital anomalies. In other words, women were forced by Texas law to have babies everyone knew would suffer and die.

Since Roe was handed down 49 years ago, "pro-lifers" in the US have committed:.-11 murders.-26 attempted murders.-4 kidnappings.-42 bombings.-667 bomb threats.-100 butyric acid attacks.-189 arsons.-663 Anthrax /bioterrorism threats.-25,000+ acts of phone harassment or hate mail.
The freakout you are witnessing from the left is very instructive. When Roe was handed down 49 years ago, pro-lifers didn’t riot, didn’t call for SCOTUS to be burned down, didn’t threaten the lives of justices, didn’t try to stack the Court. 1/ 🧵.

To put this in terms JD Vance can understand, people use “IVF” as shorthand for "fertility treatments" even though IVF is only one of many fertility treatments -- kind of how people might use "couch" as shorthand for different kinds of seating including loveseats and sofas.
Today it came out that Tim Walz had lied about having a family via IVF. Who lies about something like that? .

The "Biden was negotiating this deal an hour before he said he was dropping out" is so resonant because it's a reflection of a man working for his country even when he knows it will bring him no personal benefit. And because you can't imagine Trump doing it.
Biden took a bunch of questions from the press on the tarmac in a rare move. This prisoner swap will be an important part of his legacy- Biden deeply involved in negotiations, was on the phone trying to secure deal one hour before he announced he was dropping out of race @ABC

I think a bunch of power-hungry misogynists pretending to be virgins who systemically covered up thousands of child rapes maybe shouldn’t be making the rules about morality and human dignity.

I’m unclear on what Harris was supposed to do here, after meeting with Uncommitted and hearing them out. Just… stand around at her own rally nodding in agreement while people screamed at her?.
The clip circulating of Kamala talking to protestors doesn’t look great but the full context is important. She met with the group before the rally and responded better the first time they interrupted her. People get flustered and frustrated

Another example of real statesmanship and "Trump would never": Sharing credit, giving thanks to others, and making clear that a lot of people went out on a limb to make this happen -- instead of just taking 100% of the credit.
President Biden: "The toughest call on this one is for other countries. Because I asked them to do something that was against their immediate self-interest. Really difficult for them to do. Particularly Germany and Slovenia."

Just fascinating how fast Team "Fuck Your Feelings, Snowflakes" became Team I Will Outlaw Making Me Feel Any Emotional Discomfort Whatsoever.
A Florida bill that would prohibit public schools and private businesses from making white people feel “discomfort” when they teach students or train employees about discrimination in the nation’s past received its first approval Tuesday.

Yes it is generally the case that if you kill your victims, they can't testify against you.
“Believe all women” was always an absurd overreach: woman should be heard, claims should be investigated, but evidence is required. The same is true of the allegations out of Israel. But also, this isn’t a “believe women” scenario bc no female victims have offered testimony.

@asymmetricinfo Feel free to read the words of “pro-life” activists and politicians. They are indeed very gleeful about passing these laws, and make no apologies for their very predictable outcomes.

This is our new #prolife dystopia: A woman was arrested for "chemical endangerment" for using drugs while pregnant. The problem: She wasn't pregnant. So officers released her, but told her if she gets pregnant IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS she'll be re-arrested.

Such a good (if unintended) encapsulation of the moral asymmetries of the left and right. The example of left wing obnoxiousness that alienates voters is saying “pregnant people.” The right wing example is gleefully passing laws that force a ten-year-old rape victim to give birth.
Today someone asked me what the Republican equivalent of "pregnant people" was: a signal of in-group loyalty and perfect ideological consistency that alienates normal voters. The answer is: stuff like this.

@asymmetricinfo @NYCdisinterest I dunno, one girl every week in a single US state seems like a lot of children, some of them likely rape victims, to force into childbearing.

A 14-year-old whose behavior showed repeated cries for help should not be tried as an adult. The adults who kept guns in the house where the troubled 14-year-old could get them should absolutely be tried as adults.
Georgia officials want us to know that the 14-year-old boy who shot and killed two teachers and two students will be tried for murder as an adult, as if that will make us feel better. What about the actual adults who armed him?

If you think America should deport people for saying things you don’t like, then you’re the one who hates what America stands for.
Mahmoud Khalil hates the United States and what we stand for—so his removal should come as welcome news. It is a privilege to be granted a visa or green card to live and study in the United States of America. When you advocate for violence, glorify and support terrorists that.

This is bad news for marriage *rates* but not at all bad for marriages (or at least not bad for women in them). A lot of women would prefer to be single than to be tied to a man who doesn't respect women's basic bodily autonomy, votes for racist conspiracy theorists, etc.
1. NEW: Growing ideological polarization between men/women spells bad news for marriage as. ✔️ Y men moving slightly Right. ✔️ Y women moving strongly Left. & “fewer Americans willing to date/marry across aisle.”. My latest w/ @lymanstoneky @TheAtlantic .

I'm continually appalled by the argument that criticizing Hamas or calling them terrorists is anti-Arab racism. Seems worse and definitely more racist to suggest that a band of homicidal misogynist fundamentalists are representatives of Arabs or Palestinians?.
Last night the Oakland City Council voted on a resolution to call for a ceasefire. A city council member tried to insert language condemning Hamas. This was the reaction…

This is what it means to live in a "pro-life" nation if you're a pregnant woman: Judges, not doctors, get to decide if you deserve life-saving care, even if one of those judges was arrested 37 times for protesting at abortion clinics. This is a misogynist dystopia.
NEW: The Texas Supreme Court rules against Kate Cox. Cox had already left the state to obtain an abortion her doctors believed was medically necessary. She is just over 20 weeks pregnant and has had to go to the ER multiple times.

@omarsultan I'm not sure a president who will be 86 when he leaves office, in whom big majorities of voters lack confidence, and who has been behind Trump in the polls and is now *way* behind, is doing what is best for the country by refusing to bow out.

When a woman is forced to carry a doomed pregnancy to term, she spends months visibly pregnant as strangers congratulate her, ask when she's due, ask "is it a boy or a girl?" She endures the pain and risks of childbirth to have a baby that is dead or dies soon after.
Doctors gave Nancy Davis a devastating diagnosis: The fetus she's carrying, because of a rare and fatal condition, will not form a skull. Yet she's been told she can't get an abortion, since the condition isn't among the exceptions to the state's ban.

Also: Huge gratitude to @propublica for dedicating such significant resources to this project, which has involved digging through medical files and I imagine lots of sleuthing to find these stories that haven't been reported and that powerful conservatives want hidden.
