Fire Nation and Earth Nation wouldn't have any architectural differences and look exactly the same in just Red or Green Plus a plethora of lower stake mini-arcs throughout the entire show would just get cut entirely

If ATLA was a standard battle shonen it wouldn't have nearly the same amount of world building and Aang & Zuko would be the only cast members with any amount of character progression + Katara would be relegated to being a cheerleader past book 1
The amusing thing about Avatar is some western cartoonists made a standard battle shonen and it's considered one of the greatest western cartoons of all time.
