Tell me your newspaper uses Google Translate on foreign statements without telling me.

I want to call this a good piece, but it’s so depressing that this is the state of things in the capital. Jim’s doing a fantastic job highlighting key issues and delivering brilliant insights. I can’t imagine many newspapers going to these lengths.
A few weeks ago I tried to investigate London’s bike theft epidemic. Then my own bike was stolen. This is what I found 🧵 Full article here: https://t.co/kj0Wz5EHt7 The Met police, short on resources, won’t attend even if you know which block of flats contains your stolen bike.

The state of independent publishers these days is awful. Hugely reliant on external platforms to drive traffic, with no backup for those platforms change focus. Makes you worry about where things are going.
This is it. Giant Freakin Robot is done. This is our last day in operation as a website. Going forward you'll only find us on YouTube. Here's why...

Oh so we’re just flat out letting advertisers pretend to be other brands now? Cool.

It gets so tedious supporting a club where every single tiny nuance is reported on like it’s of monumental importance. Bloke who gets paid more than everyone else isn’t talking about a new contract that still has 4 years to run. You can’t renew them every season.

Always reassuring to see that “doing the right thing” with online content gets rewarded.
.@CyrusShepard looked at 4k sites that fit the profile of sites hit by Google’s HCU (niche, affiliate) to see if any won. 80% lost. 20% won. What was the catch? Statistically significant trends among winning sites: - personal experience (first person pronouns) - UX: sites

Can’t believe anyone’s shocked that the Saudi state got involved in the takeover process. But the difference is there’s no proof they’ve been involved since it happened (again, I’d be surprised if they hadn’t). It shouldn’t have been allowed to happen, but this won’t change it.
Oct 2021 & financier Amanda Staveley tells me the Saudi state won’t interfere with the running of NUFC ⬇️ Messages from the ex minority co-owner suggest the Saudi crown prince was involved in the takeover by PIF, reports @Telegraph Staveley & PIF stand by assurances to PL

The subs were… interesting. Thought Tonali was among the best performers and Willock didn’t offer the same threat when he came on. And the sooner we realise Barnes and Gordon on the wings doesn’t work the better.

A lot to like about the performance today. Pressed high, won a lot of the ball, but ultimately couldn’t finish the chances we got. On another day we’re 2 or 3 goals up before Brighton get their goal. Forward line rusty. And we desperately need a plan against crowded boxes.

Screen time on iOS seems a bit broken. I spend a lot of time at the computer, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never managed to hit 31 hours per day. I’m not sure why it registers Finder on the Mac as an active app.
