I created this course based on an initial request to help with ExRx and added in my belief that good clinical decision making is important. The course represents ideas and models that I have found helpful and I hope anyone who takes it finds them the same. https://t.co/akgZBajvLz

Very common to ask patients to rate pain from "no pain" (0) to "worst pain imaginable / possible" (10). Here is a randomized trial showing anchor for pain score of 10 should be "extreme pain" (TL;DR: we want to evaluate pain, not imagination)

"Probability does not exist." This provocative quote is by the Italian statistician and probabilist Bruno de Finetti. It encapsulates the core idea of Subjectivism or Bayesianism, a major school of thought in probability. De Finetti argued that probability is not an objective

What an incredible year. This wasn’t just one guy, it was all of you buying in and pushing each other to be better. Records and numbers aside, this shows the standard we’ve set and what we’re capable of when we lock in as a staff. Congrats, boys. Job well done.

This is big! Worked with great statisticians on guidelines for meta-analysis & systematic review. We discuss rationales for systematic review, evaluation & interpretation of heterogeneity, & common errors in network meta-analysis, funnel plots etc.

We are too much accustomed to attribute to a single cause that which is the product of several, and the majority of our controversies come from that. Marcus Aurelius - human nature stays pretty similar -

How can we reform science? I have some ideas. But I am not sure you’ll like them, because they don’t promise much.

What hope is there for science reform, if we can't agree on what to reform? Right now, principles are more important than practices.

Looking for a mind-growing distraction? How about my 3 part intro to Bayesian causal inference. It's like a condensed version of my book, 10 weeks of causal computation in 3 short blog posts. Take with plenty of water.
