One of the biggest challenges to doing Big Team Science is measurement - how do we know if constructs exist across cultures and if so, how can we accurately translate items to measure them? We did a large scale investigation with the @PsySciAcc ! https://t.co/AbOfSRnNtI 1/π§΅

The PICKLE FANATICISM scale π€£ I'm dead π What an ABSOLUTE BANGER from @l_j_alley and @JkayFlake! Such a great tool for teaching measurement theory in a practical and engaging way. I will immediately be adopting this!

Robustness analysis is going to be a big part of the future of how we think about evidence synthesis and rigor - exciting new journal where you can turn your blog posts of other ways the analyses could have been done into papers! Excited to see some submissions come in!
We just launched a diamond open-access journal called Journal of Robustness Reports! The journal will publish short reanalyses of published empirical research findings.

For those with experience on the non-academic job market: how common do you think it is to receive a verbal job offer, then via verbal/email negotiation (a couple of emails about salary range), have the offered rescinded and never get an actual job offer in writing?

"Replication is more like reliability, it is not like validity. It is not worth replicating research that is invalid."
At the wonderful 4M winterschool in Padova, listening to @JkayFlake talking about measurement and replicability. There are so many nice people here, incredibly fun week to interact with fellow metascientists and early career researchers!

Day 2 π We continued our journey with an insightful session by @lakens , discussing the importance of Registered Reports.β¨ Then, @JkayFlake took the stage diving into measurement not shmeasurement, challenging us to think critically about how we measure what matters β‘οΈ

I'll be at Social and Behavioural Data Science Center at the University of Amsterdam for a couple of weeks. I'm giving a lecture on Monday Feb 24th ( https://t.co/mryqHFkbzr) anyone can attend. Hope to meet up with some people while I'm in town to talk methods and measurement.

We are looking for RAs to work with us on a new meta-science & replication project, joint with @I4Replication, now with focus on environmental (economics) topics such as air pollution & carbon pricing. RAs can work remotely but must be located in Germany https://t.co/0CIc9gyBWR

On of our goals with this paper was to make the plea for more data and more research -- mandatory reporting and accountability. We tried to be cautious in our claims about causality and having the model right, so in that sense this error report emphasizes the importance of that.

I don't remember questioning how we calculated the DV or it coming up in review. But, I'm open to the criticism that it wasn't the right way to do the analysis and the notion that the effect isn't robust. This paper inspired a lot of critique in general and it should have.

We didn't do that for this paper and personally I think it is more of a problem than disagreements about analysis model. If there were mistakes along the way there are some aspects we can't check now. Our work should be reproducible, not just for error checkers, but for yourself.

It is an honor for anyone to care enough about your work to check it, so thanks dudes. A mistake I suggest others not make is failing to ensure that all the data, from download, to merge, to analysis is available and each step, not just the final analysis, is reproducible.

This is missing the gluten free vegan combo plate (also carbs). This is why you'll see carrying cheese sticks around.
