Well I would have expected the Police Workforce figures to be released today (3rd Wed in January) as per normal but they've released this instead. Still important info, but it does feel like it's been done to not release the full figures.

As the workforce figures were released this moring I did a quick total check. Congratulations, still shrinking and it still makes me angry. That is the figure from Sept 2024 to March 2025. 284 down Sept 24 to March 25. It's 584 down over the 12 month March 24 to March 25.

Well this is idiotic. When you roll all your 'specialist' SM accounts into a very small number you just lose connection. We've seen this before, it causes an initial bump in traffic, but rapidly drops off.

This is one of the best ways to manage the specials I've experienced. Directly answerable to the local Insp or Ch/Insp. Still need the SCI and above roles, but giving the local SCs a measure of operational independence and flexibility works better.

I'm considering what to do going forward with this account. I could continue to advocate for Specials, but don't believe many are listening. Alternatively I can just walk away and leave it fallow. 2/2

This is interesting as @northumbriapol Specials removed their SC Grades a number of years ago. Contractulations @Miles_PBH! S/Sgt is probably the most impactful SC grade!
