Now *this* is closer to what I long to see. (stolen from a modern 2026 Acura Integra A-Spec) The temptation grows...

In several Open Source domains the commitment to DEI is so entrenched, it boggles the mind. This Python org wouldn't accept $1.5 million because it would require them to stop discriminatory policies. It's software. It used to be based on merit and letting the good stuff float to
The Python Software Foundation has turned down a $1.5 Million Dollar grant from the US government, as it would require the Python Software Foundation to cease discriminatory DEI policies and practices. “The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity,

This could be interesting.

I got this email from @ReadwiseReader and suddenly had that nostalgia. I read "The Soul of a New Machine" decades ago. It covered how Data General was trying to build a minicomputer with a ragtag group of engineers who were just excited to build something so From The Ground Up!

In a similar way I saved all summer '82 to be able to buy my TRS-80 Model I. While I'd mastered BASIC and TRSDOS, it was where I got my start slinging Assembly Code to squeak out performance from an 8 bit Z-80 microprocessor. Back In The Day™.
My parents sold our van so I could have a Commodore 64. That wasn’t just a computer, it was belief in my future. Full talk: https://t.co/fTFu7cmxWZ

Yep. It is my only reservation about Signal Messenger vs something like XMPP or Matrix.
The more centralized a system, the easier it is to abuse. That’s why decentralization matters, for money, speech, and privacy. Decentralized systems are far from perfect. But they're a powerful check against concentrated control.

A few hours back the older of my two married daughters gave birth to my 4th grandchild. My Dad's had 5 great grandsons so far, and now he finally has a great granddaughter. 😍

"The Price of Progress: What Tokyo Looks Like at 8AM" https://t.co/QSZhWQuokA Wow! Dystopian efficiency. No wonder their birth rate is in the tank! It feels like such a "lather, rinse, repeat" lifestyle. I'll try not to complain about my hour long commute after seeing this

First car: had to sell as it was an endless money pit. First serious calculators (both HPs, the 41-CX and the 28S): check First computer: the TRS-80 Model I is downstairs. First wife: well... she's at St. Patricks cemetery, but visits me occasionally in my dreams.😊 More
I still have my first car, first calculator, first computer, and first wife! I don't still have the sweater, though.

Ah, the old days. When an Assembly Language could be summarized in under 70 pages (and implemented in a few thousand gates of logic). The 6502 ... used in the Apple II Series, the Commodore 64 and VIC-20, the 8 bit Atari's, as well as the UK's BBC Micro and Acorn Electron. Good
I just scanned the Pitman Pocket Guide Assembly Language for the 6502 by Bob Bright as I couldn't find an English version online (just Italian). You can see the pdf here https://t.co/aTZq6K5kLm

"Apple Slashes iPhone Air Production Amid Low Demand" https://t.co/3RjpTcHFNR While I'm far from an iOS fanboy, I'm a bit surprised. Maybe the "we made it thinner" isn't as marketable as it once was. 🤷♂️ What I always found funny was that there was this race to make phones

Apple is reducing component requests by almost 80%, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Yet more evidence of the Dead Internet Theory. One possible filter/green flag is looking for the verified blue check mark. It's easy to make a botnet farm when the cost of a "user" is free. These fake accounts usually don't want to pay.

https://t.co/0HbvK7RbTG I'd studied the biography of St. John Henry Newman (1801–1890) before, but missed the more recent news that he would join the Catholic Church's small ranks of being declared a Doctor of the Church. Since I'm on @SophiaPress 's Book of the Month, I'll

"Researchers Expose Systemic Anti-White, Anti-Christian Bias in Top AI Models" Depending on what sources these popular AI models train from, I can't say that I'm all that surprised. https://t.co/n0SyE0Rx0q I remember about a month ago using AI I walked through some analysis

Some new research from the Center for AI Safety makes one thing abundantly clear: the entire mainstream AI industry is fundamentally anti-White and anti-Christian by design. These studies provide...
