Public funding for minimally invasive procedures, including facial injectables and hair removal, warrants consideration, given the therapeutic benefits of gender-affirming care. ➡️ https://t.co/PAgIOm2uaP @sarahfrasermd

Silver again this year at the National Magazine Awards @nma_b2b! But today I want to highlight my article that won Silver last year about climate change and health. With the fires raging in Nova Scotia, the link has become all the more obvious. ICYMI: https://t.co/TbBRIumq19

The burden of this care will likely still overwhelmingly fall on women. This is only one example of the tremendous invisible labour inequity in our health system, and as care providers we need to be mindful of how this kind of stress will show up for our patients as well. /3

While caregiving can have many benefits, there are also many challenges, and these challenges are gendered. As a family doctor who works both in the clinic and the hospital, I’ve seen firsthand that many caregivers are frequently diagnosed with burnout, 1/

By 2050, there will be over a million people in Canada who have dementia, according to a large study by the Alzheimer Society. And these people will need care. As doctors, and as a society, it is important to recognize the work the caregivers do, 3/

During the lecture, the students got to hear the personal story of a caregiver, who talked about both the struggles and the benefits of caregiving for her family members. It’s also important to note that the majority of this work is done by women and it’s often unpaid. 2/
