Hey, @DVSAgovuk trying to push back my test in August by a few weeks but the website to do so has been unavailable due to 'mainteance' for A WEEK. Desperate to pass before I qualify and start my new NHS job, been repeatedly failed by the test infrastructure over the last 3 years.

Ports in Liverpool and Edinburgh refused to allow cruise ships meant to house asylum-seekers to dock - and so the ships have had to return to the company that owns them.
BREAKING: Two cruise ships set to house 1,000 migrants have not been able to dock in the UK and have had to return to the company that owns them. Sky's @AliFortescue has the latest. https://t.co/MN45tfH6uz šŗ Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube

Important piece from legendary lesbian activist @alisapower on how the barrage of transphobia directed at @mikaminio has direct correlations with te moral panic around gay people in the 1980s.

The attacks directed at trans people have strong echoes of the abuse my gay friends and I received decades ago

Given the cowardly lack of resistance to #section35 by all but 11 Labour MPs, @Ashley__Dalton can you assure me you will explicitly vote *against* any further attacks on trans rights before you ask for my vote in the Westlancs #ByElection? @OwenJones84

When I started looking at Scottish private care finances with @sara_izzM @oeufling I thought weād find a complicated cost-benefit story. We didnāt. Large care-home chains simply pay their staff less, spend more on non-care costs, and get more complaints of substandard care.
š„ Today weāre launching our new report, āProfiting From Care: Why Scotland canāt afford privatised social careā Read it here: https://t.co/BuezFMZa8S š§µ Here are some of the key findings:

So privileged to have worked on this with the amazing @sara_izzM & Mike Lewis for @ScottishTUC. Big care home chains are an outrageous racket, it's a mystery to me why we allow them anywhere near vulnerable people. Enough is enough: Scottish Govt urgently needs to change course.
1. Our new report looks at the privatisation of social care in Scotland. It finds that large private providers are associated with lower wages, more complaints about care quality and higher levels of rent extraction than not-for-profit care providers.

Another day, another act of shocking gendered violence from the police. As the floodgates open, we prepare for more stories of police keeping their own safe instead of facing justice + accountability. We cannot allow them more power! We must #KillTheBill

As @thediyora argues in @galdemzine, @ReclaimTS urgently need to listen to actual activists like @SistersUncut...confirming that they'll put the half a million raised to paying the fines and legal costs of women brutalised by cops would be a start

Last year my friend Nicole was murdered in a park, by a stranger, and the police officers took selfies next to her body so pls can we defund the police and let women live.

People using the pain and tragedy of Sarah Everard opportunistically to push for misogyny as a hate crime when the perpetrator is literally a cop, really need to slow down and reflect. Today is so painful.

@Ceri00752801 Hi Ceri. Regs are 'secondary' legislation (made by a minister). They are 'laws', but are subject to 'primary' legislation (made by parliament) incl s3 Human Rights Act. This requires that the Regs must be interpreted/enforced compatibly with the right to protest (Articles 10/11)

To any women fined on #ClaphamCommon last night: please contact me if you need help to challenge them. Police have discretion to withdraw FPNs but the letters will not make this clear and will say being prosecuted in court is the only way to avoid paying. #ReclaimTheseStreets

A woman who attended the Clapham vigil was flashed by a man on her way home. When she reported it to police on the ground, they refused to act on it. How many times need we say it? The police do not keep us safe. https://t.co/BvO1F8h0sL
