Of course they were destroyed. Equally Shaivites destroyed Vaishna a temples and vice versa. Buddhist temples were taken over to be made into Hindu temples. Limitation is there for a purpose in law isn't there?
@sanjayuvacha Comment is limited to the point of denial, there are enough material to suggest and prove that temples were destroyed during Islam period of north India. What can be done or claimed is separate issue..
