my theory on bryan johnson is that while he's spending millions trying to live forever, his most effective 'longevity hack' is having a mission he wakes up excited about.

Participate in the 24/7 global dinner party. Make friends, find co-conspirators. Cultivate grace and social wisdom for dealing with the many hazards of the information frontier. You can contact any human or publish to all of them; romanticize and relish this. Enjoy yourself.
Why have I still not heard of anyone offering workshops etc on “how to use technology in a healthy way” when this is one of the most important questions of our age??? Have we all just given up, rolled over and shown our bellies like dogs?

If I could interview hundreds of former Montessori alumni, it would be fascinating to understand what their relationship to work is now as adults. Would be cool to map this out and compare against traditional school outcomes.

Instead of formal meetings, Karel and I will often just go for a walk and turn Granola on while we talk. Depends on what we're discussing but have found this to be much more generative than a structured meeting with our laptops out.

trying to be a good person or follow principles is a good way for *your* world to become more ordered and the more ppl around u that share those tenets w you, the more *the collective* world becomes ordered ie. everyone cleans -> clean room, everyone is faithful -> more

These daily work cycles were the best for getting into what I'd later learn was a flow state. Most kids don't get the opportunity to experience what that's like once they start school. No wonder people learn to dread work.
In Montessori classrooms, even young children work independently for 2½–3 hours, while some new programs require teachers to interrupt every four minutes for “engagement.” Long stretches of quiet focus build depth; constant interruption builds distraction.

I've been wanting to host more intimate gatherings. Inviting people into your home feels much more intentional and curated than just going out for dinner. Hotpot might be the perfect hosting meal. Light prep ahead, cook together. Easy to turn into a ritual.

My husband @karelvuong just got locked out of his X account. Passkey re-enrolment switching from the Twitter to X domain zonked his access. Please help @nikitabier / @Support

"By character we mean the behaviour of men driven (though often unconsciously) to make progress ... We see this constant progress, because in every age some man has added a point to the circle of perfection which fascinated him and drove him to action.” Montessori

Went to an event last night and can't stop thinking about this concept of System 3 thinking and it's timely relevance in a post-AI world. Sharing some key takeaways and musings: - In "Thinking, fast and slow" Daniel Kahneman differentiates between two forms of thinking, System 1

Most people are not interested in AI replacing human discussions because AI isn’t conscious (yet). It doesn’t choose to listen to you, and great discussions come when there’s genuine, conscious intention.
