It is amazing to step back and think of all the lives improved and saved as a result of the invention of the flexible endoscope!

It was a true honor to visit @uabmedicine and give medicine grand rounds in honor of Dr. Basil Hirshowitz. Dr. Hirshowitz's creative read of a Nature paper in the 1950's about fiberoptic cables led him to develop the flexible endoscope.

Wonder why Traditional Serrated Adenomas require surveillance after 3 years? Our paper in @AGA_CGH demonstrates TSAs confer increased risk for CRC vs normal colonoscopy with CRC rates similar to advanced adenomas, check out below! @samirguptaGI @dembj13 https://t.co/A8Ur6FayaN

Thank you to @NBCNews for this article about the @NEJM colonoscopy trial. As I stated, colonoscopy works only if you actually do it! I really hope the media headlines will not deter people from undergoing life-saving cancer screening. @DFarberYoungCRC @DanaFarber

Cold snare is safer and may be just as effective as hot snare for the resection of sporadic nonampullary duodenal adenoma! Check out our new paper in @GIE_Journal!
Tweet card summary image
giejournal.org
Nonampullary duodenal adenomas can undergo malignant transformation, making endoscopic resection, often by hot snare (HSP) or cold snare polypectomy (CSP), necessary. Although CSP has been shown to...

9/12 How do we pick a test? Good news is that modeling studies show a similar number of cases and deaths averted across all #CRC screening strategies: the best test is the one that gets done!

8/12 We have lots of options for screening in the US, all with important strengths – the relative sensitivity, specificity, and impact on #CRC incidence and mortality compared with no screening are shown in this table

7/12 In writing this review, I was struck by how well #CRC screening meets the classic Wilson and Junger principles for early disease detection to support population-based screening – all the boxes are checked!
