Recently when an organizer asked me how can we create an event in India that is different, my suggestion was to speak with Soumenji. His events in Kolkata Goodricke and Kolkata GM were totally unique and world class! Thank you Soumenji for all that you have done for Indian chess!.

The first event Amruta and I covered after our marriage in 2014 for ChessBase was in Kolkata where Soumen Mazumdar was the main organizer. I played the event and Amruta took pictures. In the end we wrote two reports:. - -

Amruta and I took our first picture in Managalore back in 2008. She had proposed and we had begun our relationship there. This July after exactly 15 years, we visited Mangalore once again. We went to the same hotel, same breakfast place, and the same beach!
