I will tell you something else: the toilet was a bit far from the main tables. So, to prevent having to go there, Ding decided to avoid drinking any water during his games.
The new World Champion might look fragile, but he is tough and resilient.
In 2018 Ding Liren suffered a hip fracture in a situation where he could not walk without support, played the Batumi Chess Olympiad for his team and won two golds for the team on the first board (team & individual)
